steri strips

Well so most of u knw, or should know because ive threw my toys well and truely out the pram a few time, ive had a.nightmare with my scars. Turns out i had reacted to the stitches.

Anyway they are healing now and totally closed, just small scabs on the left one.

In friday My nurse said to take them off in shower today and elave them off, however i told her i felt safer with them on lol, so she gave me some to take home. Noticed today i had now reacted to the steris or maybe they have just been on…too long!!!

I know its daft but im scared of infection etc, so should i take them off and leave them off for a day or so and let them have some air. I have peeling skin(sorry) where the steris have been probs caused by sweat (again sorry)

Is it time to part with my beloved steris girls and let these babies breath!!!

I’d defo leave em off for a day hun n if you really feel like you need them back in the put em on but I’d let the air get to them n just see how you go! Have you not got any silicone strips to put over them, maybe that would make you feel abit better and aid your scars in healing aswel X

LOL! i think you should part with the steri strips, it’s best to just let the scars dry out and heal now. the steri strips are preventing the scars from drying out and also if there is any bacteria the steri strips may have an incubating effect. so i would just chuck them hunn. i’m sure you’ll heal just fine x

Thanks huns even though theyare a bit raw still i think its cos they are.sweating underbthe strips!! They are coming off!! I csn garantee i will be on the phone to the nurse tomorrow with some panic lol xx away with the comfort blanky xx

Aaaah steris are off!! Im now halucinating that mybscars are.leaking down my body lol aaaahhh comfort blanky needed! Aaaahhh resits the steris!!!!

Ahahaha ur a crazy girl, I bet when u get up tomorrow they’ll have dried out and by mon the scabs will have started comin off then you’ll start noticing a difference in them X

Lol so im scared to move incase i rip them open lol… I need my steris sure the air will do them good. Just so worried bout infection. I would put more pics of them up but they look worse on camera for some reason! I would prob put pre op girls off haha… Im sure the steris have been on too long and caused my skin to burn!!

Thats exactly what i was like fairy…except it wasn’t infection that was bothering me but the way my scars looked…each time i saw the nurse she only put the steri’s back on so i didn’t have to look at them! I’v had my dressings off for about 5 days now and have found i am healing a lot better, i’v still got scabs but they are falling off day by day (sorry for the mental image) I still look like i’v been butchered but i’m trying not to let it get me down! I would leave the steri’s off hun, you will be surprised what a difference it makes…If i can do it you can xxx

Jo hun u have had a big op. U DO NOT look like u have been butchered!! Ur boobs are fab!! Honest hun right i must be allergic to everything those steris geeeese!! Anyway spent a full night without me steris, did get withdrawel symptoms from them though during the night lol! My wcars.sctually look better today plus the dry peeling skin(yhe my turn.to be goss) frkm the steris has gone!! I think with a bit air the scabs do heal better cos under the steris we would be sweating and keeping the scabs moist. Everytime i move my arms im waiting for the implant o plop on the floor haha…

lol @ withdrawl symptoms from steris! that made me chuckle hun! It defo makes a difference having your scars uncovered, mine do seem to look a bit better than they did, still a long way to go though! I think i’m gonna go back to work 2morra, i should have gone back last week but didn’t feel ready to go! Hopefully work will give me something to focus on other than my boobs! xx

I keep having the feeling my scars are leaking its total freaking me out!! Im going to boots to get hibiscrub soap today. Its a surgical soap and prevents infection! Im such a paranoid idiot lol!!

i only have a desk job anyway so it won’t be too bad! I can’t wait till i can moisturise, i hate my boobs being really dry and flaky lol! They say good things come to those who wait – well we’ve waited long enough, just heal dammit lol xx

I know!! We have waited far too long!! They better be sorted for the sumer so we can get our bikinis on!!!! Xx

too right…can’t wait to go shopping for bikinis…going on hols to either Cuba or Mexico in August xx

No probs Hun, I told you they’d feel better already! I had an open valve in my heart wen I was a ba y so had to have open heart surgery to close it and I have recurring murmers so have to have heart monitors on every now n again if it’s causing me problems and I’m allergic to the electrodes they stick on my chest it’s horrible I get massive blisters underneath them and they ooze when they pop after I’ve had the pads off (vile I know) but after only a day once they start drying they scab over and start getting better so I think it’s pretty much the same as what the steris are doin to you X

Yeah I’m fine it doesn’t bother me to much, mire when I’ve been pregnant than anythin! Just think your more likely to get an infection if you keep them on and they will be healed enough now not to reopen lol, I’ll be the same tho I’ll be so scared of the incisions opening even tho i know they won’t X

Mybscars are itchy and have shooting pains today!! Im worried cos the scabs seem to be coming off! Aaaahhh i want my steris!! Im wearing them for work tomorrow, lol. .. I worry so much if i move my arms i go to the mirror to check i havent opened. My scars, im wearing light cloloured tops so i can see if i have bled haha i think i have problems xx

lol fairy, i thought i was bad!!! Its a good thing that your scabs are coming off..it means your healing! And the shooting pains are normal, i still get them! I really wouldn’t put your strips back on for work 2morra hun, they sound like they are healing nicely now the air is getting to them xx

Honest jo them strips hun have made my skin such a mess!! They have burned all the skin around the scars making the scars look awful!!

Hows urs doing babe?! Any better?! My sis in law showed me her scars yesterday she had implants 2009 and had a bad infection in the left one from leaving hospital!! But her scars are amazing now!! I think she was.trying to reassure me that even if i did ge an infection. My scars would be neat!! Lol

omg talk loads when im flapping!! Aaaahhh lol best go check my wounds again haha!! I actually bought a new quilt.today incase mine has bacteria in it hahahaah.

Mine seem a bit better today, keep finding bits of scabs in my bra (not a nice image lol, sorry) they are just really dry and flakey and i am dying to moisturise them but i can’t do that yet…i just keep wiping them with antiseptic wipes…since the steris came off they are healing loads better! The nurse told me to just let the water run down them in the shower and pat dry afterwards…i haven’t used any soap on them at all!

I’m a worrier aswel fairy I play out different scenarios of what could happen in my head with everythin tho not just a ba so I know what your like but it’ll do them the world of good to keep them off and in a wk to 2 wks time they’ll be scab free and well on there way in healing X

Jo – I havent been.told to use any antiseptic things or out so ive just been using cotton wool with water. Do u think i neednantiseptic wipes??!! Oh im worried now

The nurse didn’t tell me to use the wipes hun, i just bought some and started using them lol, stop worrying! I just figured they would be better than normal wipes! I can’t use cotton wool as the feel of it goes through me lol xx

I had a shower todsy and a.scab came off when wet, it looked like it was gonna bleed so popped a steri on. It did bleed today hope it aint a backward step!! So upset xx

I feel exactly like that too! I took mine off yesterday in the shower and since then when i move it feels like they’re pulling apart! I hate what it feels like, it’s like the strips were holding me together ha ha. BUT it really is the best for them, let them get air and start to heal properly, like if you leave a plaster on a cut for too long it never heals. Maybe leave them off but don’t get the scars wet in the shower? Give it real time to dry out xx
