stop taking the contraceptive pill?! ADVICE PLSSSSS

hi all,

were any of you told to do this? saw the nurse yday and she was surprised my surgeon (Fallahdar) hadnt told me to stop taking it a few weeks before my op (which is now). spoke to my pc just now she said if he hasnt told u to then dont.

I was told to stop, it’s because on blood thickness or something…..on the up side tho I dropped 8 lbs in a month without changing anything so probably won’t e going back on it. I’d listen to your nurse over PC, your nurse is a qualified medical person, your PC is a sales women haha…..also your surgeon will take you trough your procedure and the nurse preps you for surgery and your post op/recovery……. xx

I was told to stop. Stopped on Tuesday and it’s killing the BF already…. But I’m taking no chances!!! 😆 xxx

I took it as normal chik, it wasnt worth me coming off since I used to get chronic period pains when I was off the pill, I was like FUCK having surgery pain AND chronic period pains come back… NOOOO thankyou!

i was told to stop two weeks b4 and two weeks after, its due to the hormones in the pill causing your blood to thicken which in turn can cause blood clots xx

yea I was told the same thing but still chose to stay on it and I was fine, but if you or your family have or had underlying health problems when it comes to blood clots or anything then deffo come off it….

Hmmm so I’d have to have a period 2wks before.. At least it wouldn’t be during I suppose! My skin goes AWFUL when I’m off it though.. But I suppose it’s worth the sacrifice haha xx

Heya. All of the surgeons are extremely thorough when checking the medication that you are currently on. It could be that you’re on a variation of the pill which is safe to continue using during the GA, otherwise I am sure that Mr Fallahdar would’ve flagged it up and advised you accordingly. x

I was really lucky, my skin cleared up and I lost over half a stone whoopy!!! Although I think I’ll be on for my surgery!! That worries me lol xx

I’m getting excited about this potential weight loss hahaha.. I put on about a stone when I went on the pill, hopefully it will disappear again!

I got told by my nurse I needed to stop taking the pill, she didn’t ask what kind I was on so I think it’s probably safer (although not 100% necessary) to stop no matter which one you’re on.

And jenniferj I think one of the other girls had that problem, and they gave her a HUUUUUGE sanitary towel so stick in her knickers haha

each suregeons different thers onl a slightly higher risk still using it, my nurse told me its completely uptot me and to weigh up the options, she doesnt want me preggers b4 my op she said haha xx
