Im a tanorexic and love a good sunbed.. i was just wondering when i should stop using a sunbed, my op is booked for the 6th July? Also how soon after can you go on a sunbed.. do you think its okay to use a sunbed as long as you cover your scars after about 2 weeks? x

They say avoid sunbeds for up to a year after as the skin is still so sensitive from being stretched and could be more prone to burning and marks. I know lots of girls who do before then, but wear plasters and a bandeau top. Make sure you wear sunscreen and that your scars are well covered as they tan dark and will not fade but will remain dark. Depends how much you need a tan I guess 🙂 x

I’ve heard other girls keep their sports bra on, but do use some sunscreen too. I asked my surgeon at my post op as I had the same holiday question. Holidays should be okay again with sunscreen and keep plasters on your scars, or keep them covered as your skin can still catch the sun from the sea and sand xx

Ok thanks.. think ill stop using them from now and wont use them until ive asked the surgeon or nurse to be on the safe side.
Ive got a holiday booked in September.. will i be okay then as long as i use a high sun cream on them and wear a top? x

ahhhhh…. Hate to be a pooper but watch the fake tan on your incisions both when tanning them and washing it off. I have fake tanned at 10 weeks, but put vaseline on my scars before rinsing it off in the morning as I was terrified they would stain ha ha 🙂 xxx

YOU CAN USE SUNBEDS BUT JUST COVER UP THE SCARS AND BOOBS UNTIL YOUR 6 WEEK CHECK. TANNING THE REST OF YOUR BODY WONT EFFECT YOUR BOOBS XXX

My ops this Friday and I have still got St Tropez Fake tan on but just avoided my boobs and haven’t done my face. You cant have anything on your face before op because they need to be able to tell if you are uber pale and about to throw up I guess.

Im going on hol in August and will be wearing a bikini, just going to put a higher factor suncream on my bangers to avoid stretch marks being worse. I think I’ll have to have a spray tan before I go and just cover my incisions.

It’s great to hear that you’re considering the timing and safety around sunbed use, especially in relation to an upcoming operation. It’s always crucial to consider the impact of UV exposure on your skin’s health and healing process. On a somewhat related note, I recently came across an insightful exploration by a blogger from EarthlyChirp who delved into the world of cruelty-free and eco-friendly reef-safe sunscreens. The depth of her research and the clarity of her findings were quite impressive, offering a fresh perspective on how we can protect our skin responsibly, even beyond traditional sunbed use. Her approach to evaluating sunscreens, with an emphasis on both skin health and environmental impact, might offer some valuable insights for anyone looking to maintain their tan while also considering the broader implications of their choices. It’s a gentle reminder of the balance we can achieve between beauty practices and mindful living.
