support stockings..–how long can u wear them after op?..

Hey lovelys…

just a lil question wonderin how long people wore their stockings 4 after their op?.. my mum suffers from DVT and im very worried about this…

help plzz xxx

I wore them for days i loved them lol. You can take them off after the first day i think but they will ask your family history at the hospital and advise you best xx

I haven’t had an op yet, but if your mum suffers from DVT I would wear them for a week, just to be safe. xx

And try to keep your legs elevated while you sleep, that helps as well.

Thanks ladies so no harm can be done wearin 4 long periods of time?.. i need 2 speak 2 nurse at my pre op about it n im really starting 2 worry about blood clots so worried it puttin me off having my op….xxxx

omg i left mine at the hospital didnt wear any at all lool but i survived x x

mine r still on from yesterday, no family history of anything but told to keep them on for a few days xx

il prob keep them on 4 at least a month lol.. ive been told that i will need 2 walk around every 2 hours!! has any1 been told this 2?? thanks 4 ur comments xxx

I had a love affair with mine – wore them for 48 hours – then took them off and missed them so wore them one and off for a few more days x

It’s important to walk around every 2 hours, to prevent blood clots yes, but also to speed up the healing process. So after a week or so, don’t be afraid to go outside for a little walk! You’ll love it.

Why do u have them what do they do x

As long as your mobile n up n about u don’t need to keep them on xxx

I wore em for over a week! Only taken off to wash n dry v quickly! So comfy lol x

i also have dvt and i have been told to wear them for at least a week and until fully mobile, they gave me an extra few pairs to take home xx discuss it with the hospital i was hooked to a DVT machine pre and 12 hours post op to keep the blood flowing and i was fine xxx

my mum suffers from something i cant remember what its called but its dangerous and i was meant to wear them for a while but i couldnt cope they done my nut in and they was off half hour after surgery but im still alive ha x

I wore mine just for the day and first night, but I was told not any longer than that they are ok to walk around in but not to sleep in as they don’t help circulation when lying down confused now!xx

I hated them! I was in hospital 3 days, mostly on the bed laid down that’s y I had to wear them? As soo n as ur mobile u can take em off xxx

I was told to wear myne for a week day and night then another week just at night and I have no family history.maybe just the hospitals preferences xx

I was told te same as princessmicheala wear thm or a week then on a night 2nd week was given a spare pair so I can wash them x
