Surgery Cancelled!! 😭

18 hours to go and my surgery has been cancelled. I’m so disappointed. I know they can’t help it and whatever but I’m just gutted. They won’t even give me a new date right now. I just have to keep isolating and hope they get me in this week.

Yeah hun. What time were you in at? Have they told you when they’ll contact you?

Admission time was 10:15, they haven’t said when they’ll contact me! All she said was they don’t have a plan B right now but surgery tomorrow is cancelled. I hope I hear from them soon! Did they say anymore to you? So disappointing when I’ve made arrangements with work and got prepared!

My admission time was 11:45. Same, she didn’t say anything more than that really. I just rang back though because I just wasn’t happy not knowing when I’d hear anything. She said she hopes to let us all know the lunchtime tomorrow. I’m crossing everything that it goes ahead this week. I said I will continue to isolate because with personal circumstances this really is the only time this year I can do this. My husband has taken time off work to stay home and look after me, I’ve had to arrange alternative childcare, so it’s not just me that it’s disrupting.
Mostly though I’ve been dreaming of and planning this surgery for 20 years now, and for it to be cancelled 18 hours before when I’ve already waited so long is such a huge kick in the balls.
I really hope we don’t have to wait much longer. I’ll keep you posted on here when I hear anything.

I tried to call back but it was closed by the time I tried! I hope we hear early tomorrow then! Fingers crossed it goes ahead this week for us both! I know the feeling, my boyfriend has took the time off to drive me and look after me after I’m not sure when he will get the time off again! Keeping everything crossed for us, yes please keep me updated, I will too! X

Have you heard anything yet Steph? All I’ve had is a text to say they don’t have an update yet. Getting more frustrated by the hour.

That’s all I’ve heard too! I had a text saying no updates yet but will keep me informed in the next few hours but that was almost 2 hours ago! So frustrating!

It’s now been rearranged to Saturday. Fingers crossed it goes ahead as planned this time.

Mine has been rearranged to Saturday as well! Im pleased we haven’t had to wait too long, fingers crossed all goes to plan!

I’m getting really annoyed now. I have to have another COVID test tomorrow even though I was told it was fine if I continued to isolate. Fed up of all the back pedalling now. I hope my surgery goes ok because I don’t trust MYA to deal with it if anything goes wrong.

My 2nd consultation and nurse vitals appointment has been cancelled for Saturday I guess that’s because they are doing surgeries that day now.

I was told my Covid test would be valid if I self isolated then got another phone call asking to do another test tomorrow too, I think all will be fine Saturday though, try not to worry! Is your admission time the same Vanda? Mine is on when I log in but expecting it could change yet.

Vanda I’m having mine at the Harley Health Clinic I’m London. Sounds like you’ve had a nightmare! Fingers crossed everything else goes smoothly.

Steph yeah my admission time still shows the same but Natalie said that it will be confirmed as usual 24-48 hours before so it may change. I’m still a day case though so it will still be before 12pm.

Had my new admission time. 13:30, so a bit later than originally planned but as long as it goes ahead I don’t care.

Mine is 12:00 I don’t mind as long as all goes to plan! I’m now trying to get some time off from work as I had this week off ready! I’m working from home so hopefully I’ll manage if not!

Hi girls sorry to jump on your thread – have you been told that your allowed visitors? Girls in our September surgery chat advised they were allowed one visitor even though MYA told them nobody was allowed with you. I’m booked for Friday and really want my partner to be able to come in with me. First trust website says one visitor per patient – just wondering if anyone who’s been recently can tell us?

Hi Steph, yeah same, not too fussed as long as it happens!

Celest, no I’ve been told no one is allowed in with me. All the emails and documentation says that too due to COVID.

Hi, I’m not sure! I was under the impression no one was allowed in the hospital and your chaperone would have to drop you at the door and collect you at the door once you can leave

Due to COVID back in August when I had my surgery in London we were not allowed visitors. It was written in the handbook that we were given. It may have changed now though

That’s great to hear! Who was your surgeon?

It hasn’t changed, my paperwork for my op Saturday says no visitors or chaperones allowed in the hospital.

Hi I’m due to have surgery at first Trust in Preston on 27th Oct so this is alarming 👀. I’m not with MYA though it’s private but still I’ve booked 2 weeks off work for mine so hoping this doesn’t happen but maybe something serious has happened for them to cancel it so suddenly. Have they got back to you with an update?

Hi Violet, I wouldn’t worry it was cancelled on Tuesday due to a technical problem at the hospital, I don’t think think it’s a common thing! They were just unable to get fixed until the next day so all surgery for that day needed to be cancelled

Hi Steph, have you gone for your surgery yet? I’m in my room now, seen the anaesthetist, just waiting for Mr Traynor to come and mark me up. Can’t believe it’s really happening!!

You too babe! Yes he’s much friendlier on surgery day than on the consultation 😅 I seen him briefly afterwards! I’ve been told to wear my bra 8 weeks rather than the usual 6 have you too?

No problem Violet! Thank you so much! First night wasn’t as bad as I thought! Managed to sleep well and wasn’t too much pain more just heavy and uncomfortable when moving!

He told me I should wear a good supportive bra for the rest of my life, lol. He didn’t say anything about the surgical bra per se, just said to follow my instructions from my post op and go from there. I did tell him I was gonna look after them though cos I don’t want to risk them dropping out or capsular contracture etc. He told me not to touch them, just leave them alone and let them heal. I did have to take my bra off for 5 mins yesterday, felt like they were so swollen they would just burst out of it!
Sleeping is ok, but my bum is aching from being in one position all night. I swear I’ll get a pressure sore.
And I’m terrified of pulling my stitches open. I have full range of movement with my arms and I worry I’ll do too much and bust my incisions. Just want to get to my post op and for them to tell me they’re healing fine.
Also, hubby was feeling a bit frisky last night so there was some action (all very gentle and no touching the tatas) but again I’m stressing that it could mess up my recovery.
