Surgery with brace?!?!?!?!

Does anyone know anyone who’s had surgery while they had a brace on their teeth?! Surgeon said it caused a problem and it’s better if it was out!! Any info from anyone appreciated!!! Xx

Not really sure but when I had my surgery last week they wouldent even let me have my hairband in cause it had a tiny bit of metal in it xx

It’s because the metal can cause electrocution, something to do with the machines they use in theatre x

I’ve not been told about dat I’ve got a brace on my bottom teeth n my surgeon not said anything bout it!! I’m booked in for march to av my ba Hun!! I had my brace on wen I had my c section is dat not da same it still an operation ain’t it!!! Xxx

You should ask your surgeon just to be sure. And read your pre op ifo, I know we have to remove any jewellery. x

He said it was something to do with electric current or something but it was possible he could just use another one or something. Found out today I’ve for another six months of the brace and wanted this done asap:( rylon make sure they’re aware of ur brace! xx

I’ve just txted my patient co ordinator n she not herd of that!! Sum of ere patients had fixed braces… Xxx

After saying that I have just realised I have a metal line behind my bottom teeth to keep them together! Cause I can’t see or feel it I forget it’s there!

I had my surgery last Friday and it didn’t do me any harm!

Ah mine is a fixed brace, paid four grand for it don’t want to take it out too soon if they’re not perfect! I’m gonna have a fixed wire when my treatments finished too, I’ll email patient coordinator on mon! Should be ok if u had urs Melissa haha! X

I just remember laying on the bed with the anaesthetist and the nurse saying to me about my hairband having metal in it and did I have any rude piercings or other metal on my body!!

O well! I had an uplift and 360cc low profile unders Friday – so so happy with them so far xxx

I’ve been wondering about this too. I have a fixed brace, do you think it’ll be a problem?

Aoifex is your surgery booked? Wonder why my surgeon said it would be a problem but it wasn’t mentioned to you? Who have u got? I saw mr Fallahdar x

Yeah my surgery is booked for April. I’ve got Mr Adamo. He never said anything about it, and neither did my PC. I don’t know whether they just didn’t see that I had a brace, because I didn’t say anything about it.

I’m gunna call my PC this week just to double check. I’ll be so gutted if it’s gunna be a problem.

Yeah I know I hope there’s another way it can be done. Keep me updated hun I’m speaking to my pc tomorro too. Better to be safe than sorry ay xx

They must be able to work around it cos I’m sure there are plenty of people who have braces.
