Hi everyone,
I had breast implants two years ago with a different company (385cc round overs – I asked for tear drop under but was advised against this) anyway… my surgery resulted in symmastia and I have brought a legal case against the company.
It’s completely ruined my confidence and upsets me every day! I feel so abnormal and feel embarrassed and obviously want it fixed ASAP.
I’m understandably anxious about the revision surgery as it’s very complicated. I wondered if anyone has had symmastia before and if so have you had it fixed? Was the surgery done by MYA? How did you find the surgery / recovery?
Thanks so much x
Hi I’m so sorry your going through this! This was a worry of mine before I had surgery because even though I was very small I could almost lift the skin in my sternum, I had 380 round over and I am very happy with them apart from the sternum/cleavage area, everyone says don’t worry it’s just swelling it will go down, but I’m unsure! Can I ask how you knew it was symmastia? Do you have any pictures? Surely it’s the surgeons mistake for putting in an implant too wide for your breast pocket? If you search symmastia on the forum there are a few posts from a few years ago that may help xx
Hi Jamie,
Aw I’m so glad you’re pleased with your results! Give the swelling plenty time to go down, they change a lot and move.
It took me a little while to realise mine, about a year after having it I knew something wasn’t right then a couple months later my Aunty remembered an episode of botched and when I looked into it I knew that’s what I have. My surgeon was not very receptive of my complaint and the hospital sent me a pretty patronising letter. From what I have read it either happens as a result of over dissection of the tissue or implants that are too wide and mine are definitely too wide as I’m quite narrow on top.
I’ve attached a video where you can see the symmastia, let me know if you want to see any of my post op pictures xx
That’s awful, it’s the surgeons mistake! Have you sorted corrective surgery? Yes that’s what my concern is I’m very narrow on top and felt 380 round width was too big, when I try a normal bra or bikini on it’s kind of just one boob if that makes sense? I’ll add you as a friend pictures would be useful to see if mine are similar you can send them through private if you would prefer? Xx
I’ve uploaded some photos but it won’t let me upload the video unfortunately. I’ll upload some more pictures tonight to show the symmastia more clearly. I haven’t arranged any corrective surgery yet, I’m really anxious about what company I chose after being let down by the previous one. I also have to wait for the claim to clear because of the financial implications.
It’s absolutely soul destroying when you’ve wanted something so much for your own self confidence and in the end it made you feel worse, I feel like mine is so obvious but my friends and my amazing mum always try to reassure me!
You should definitely arrange a consultation with your surgeon, the quicker you highlight your concerns the better! Xx
I can’t see the photos you’ve uploaded, that’s great thankyou would be helpful to compare! Aww I can’t imagine, I’m only three weeks post op so my surgeon wants me to wait until 6 weeks at least to see him, but my friends have now noticed my concerns so I’m glad it’s not just me! I think I would want to see a speacialist in reconstruction as it’s not straight forward is it xx
