Taking steristrips off?

I was told off the nurse to soak them off in the bath after two weeks, which will be on Wed. However I’ve had pain from one of my incisions today & dunno if I should soak them off now so I can see if there’s any sign of infection or anything. They’re proper tatty now & covered in instant tan & half peeling off anyways so I think it may be best to take them off or do you think I should keep them on? Might ring up & ask

What was everybody else told to do with theirs? xx

She told u to soak them off in a bath? My nurse told me not to soak in bath at all till wounds are totaly healed which she would confirm at 6 wk po, she said soaking them in showers is fine however in a bath your laying in all the germs n dirt from your body, its not rinsing away like a shower. I’m 3wk po and only have a bath so she advised me to not wash my wounds with bath water I have to get a jug and get water from taps n pour it down me lol and that’s how I washed my steri strips off. I’m sure all nurses say differnt but my wounds stil look abit raw and I wouldn’t soak them in the bath id b too paranoid. But if she’s told u to then I dunno lol xx

See that sounds more sensible what you said when did you get told to take yours off? I might do that with fresh water but it’s funny because my mam said when she had her c-sections the midwife told her to bathe in a salty bath, I wonder what the difference is :S xx

Salty water is like an antiseptic kills germs, something along those lines, wen I had my belly peirced that’s wot the told me to bathe it in. I removed mine at 10 days, they was stuck n stil bit site so I was panicking,but they have been fine xx

I’m 12 days now & mine are half hanging off, I think I’m just gonna take them off, the nurse said about two weeks so I’m only a couple of days early, thanks for replying hun xx

Some girls get advised to take them off 7 days po so I’m sure ul v fine, mine were stil well n truly stuck on there lol, so if yours are half off anyway there’s no point keeping em on. It’s ok chick your welcome hope all is good xxx

I got told off my surgeon wen I went to c him 6 days po-op to take them off 2days after and that I could have a shower and cant believe how much my scars r healing with taking them off because air can get to them and they heal a lot quicker then. I jus soaked them in the shower and they came off really easy x

i was told a week after but mine were peeling off 2 days after she put em on so i took mine off 9 days p o and my scars are fine
