    Hey ladies, I know theres a weight loss group, but when you go onto to it most of it is who’s joined the group.

    I figure with this thread we can al add our tips for pre or post op weight loss!

    Here are my top 3!!

    1) Jason Vales 7lbs in 7days detox

    2) CARBS ARE THE ENEMY

    3) Cut down, or cut out the main toxins in our body…..Caffeine, fizzy drinks, sugars and fats.

    So girls….lets share yours and this can be a very helpful thread :)

    i put this on a thread a few weeks ago, im all into health, nutrition and exercise, im a bit of a fitness junky, so heres my tips, be warned its an essay lol zz

    EXERCISE

    aim to do around 30-40 min of cardio a week, this can be anything from brisk walking, running on a treadmill,cycling or rowing, anything that raises you heart rate. also mix this up by doing a class ie zumba,aerobic. make sure you change your exercise routing regularly as other the body get used to doing the same thing and this can slow down you weight loss.

    FOOD

    BREAKFAST

    breakfast is the most important meal off the day when we sleep our metabolism slows right down so breakfast speed our metabolsm up and also stops us picking on rubbish through till dinner time, i recommend 2 weetabix and semi skimmed milk, or a poached egg on whole meal toast. if you dont have much time to make breaskfast a banana and a handfull of nuts would be ideal as the banana realise energy slowely and nuts contain protein which also keeps you fuller for longer.

    LUNCH

    try and eat things such as jacket potato and a healthy filling such as tuna (no mayo) beans are also low calorie and good for you but do contain suger so limit beans in tomato sauce to onces a week, a whole meal sandwhich with ham etc or a wrap, you could also make yourself an egg white omellette with veg, i eat 4 egg whites with one yolk (75% of calories and fat come from the yolk)

    TEA

    try and eat things such as fish,steak,chicken,turkey breast grilled not fryed and accompany them with plenty of veg. home made soup is also a good one to make as you can make it a day or two before and then if youu dont fancy cooking its better than turning to a high calorie ready meal. i also make cottage pie,lasagne,bolognaise sauce with LEAN turkey mince instead of beef its much healthiar, cous cous or quinua is a healthy alternative to pasta and rice and you can have that stuffed in peppers or it makes a nice accomplement to a home made stew etc.

    DRINKS

    drinks such as pop, fruits etc contain alot on empty calories, you wanna change these for water or squash or even flavoured water, drinking plenty of water actually makes you feel full so you tend to eat less as well so it an added bonus.

    Green tea is also an awesome drink which aids weight loss and also has lots of other health benefits, its not overly nice but i got used to it and its all i drink it also boosts your metabolism.

    SNACKS

    you wanna snack on things such as fruit, nuts also low fat yoghurts, maybe rivitas and rice cakes with cottage cheese or humous. also the occasion cereal bar would be ok.

    TIPS

    * drink a glass of water or eat an apple before a meal, this makes you feel fuller so you eat less

    *eat of smaller plates, sound silly i know but this knocks of calories

    *dont fry your food grill it

    *swap all white varieties for whole meal, eg whole meal bread and pasta

    *sauces contain alot of unwanted calories so limit the amount of sauces you have.

    lower belly fat is also diet related, so you can even be skinny and have lower belly fat, try your best to keep you healthy and not connsume excess sugers and you will see a big diffrence in you lower belly fat

    also protein shakes make a great meal replacement and also help with muscle repair and definitions too, one 100% whey protein shake with one scoop and water contains around 80 calories and 16g protein so they either make a grear snack replacement or drink them instead of a meal either way you double the benefits of the nurtiants and that fact its low calorie xx

    this is a good thread-

    pre-op

    1-plenty of protien aka chicken, turkey, lean beef

    2-no carbs

    3-0% fat yogurts and no bits in either

    4- no fizzy pop, sweets, chocolate, ice cream or crisps

    5-no red meats

    6-soups but the smallest tins you can find

    7-only a bit of salt/venigar and tomatoe sauce used a week dont go wild lol

    8-a few pickled onions a week

    9-veg/fruit on alt days

    10-alot of cardio

    post op is just the same realy apart from working out :( … in the first week after my op i pegged out on ice cream and carbs and believe me i regretted it after a few days lol xxx

    Love this thread :) its motivating me to loose the 4.5lbs I put on post op! Miss body pump so much :( just wanted to ask what turkey mince actually tastes like? Does it taste similar to beef mince? Also wondering if protein shakes are expensive? Xx

    turkey mince just tastes like turkey lol its just in a minced form so ideal for bolognaise and Sheppard pies, also heres a link to some info on whey protein, its simular to slim fast but cheaper but you buy bigger quantities, places like holland and barret do it, but its cheaper online from places like amazon xx

    I have just got into using turkey mince…we actually find it so delicious and more tasty than minced beef that we’ll probably never buy the beef again!

    Great tips girls…another thing I’ve been doing is drinking smoothies every day. For those like myself who aren’t really a fan of fruit, it’s a great way of getting 2 of your 5 a day xx

    Great tips girls :) I wana loose half a stone that I’ve put on through having the contraceptive implant, before my op. I’ve just started eating healthy and already lost 2ib from eating good stuff instead if junk food, but lets c if a stick to it lol xx

    I’m desperate to lose a few pounds… Ok maybe a stone lol. Been pigging out lately but time to whip my arse back into shape. Can’t work out due to only being 3 post op but I’m cutting out carbs and I’m gonna try to go for long walks.

    No matter what I try.. I do swimming.. eat healthy and have been doing Flabelos I cant seem to shift any weight.. although gotta say I think a lot of my fat has converted to muscle cause of the swimming & flabelos..

    hi girls, well i had my 2nd baby in november and i started a diet and working out doing a dance workout d.v.d the pump it up 2010 one i love it it as 2 dance sessions a tone section and an abs and stretch section i highly recommend it,even tho we are in 2012 now lol. i bought it after my 1st baby haha, my diet consists off porridge with semi skimmed milk,special k red berries, then slimfast shake for lunch and fruit then a weight watchers meal for tea more fruit and lots of water through out the whole day ive lost half a stone in 2 months was 10 stone 3 and now way a couple of pound under 9 and a half so reached my target weight of 9 and a half stone :-)try it it works nothing else as ever worke for me not gym,not skipping meals just this and its so easy xx

    I’m battling with this atm. I’ve been exercising (cardio 45 mins, weights/ strength 20 mins, swimming 20 mins) per day 5 – 6 x per week for 3 weeks now and eating 1200 cals a day. I’m on myfitnesspal (check it out it’s really useful!) and logging everything i eat and burn. Bit discouraged atm as I lost 1lb the first week then GAINED 0.5lb this week :( I had reintroduced carbs (bagels/ breakfast cereal) back into my diet, and wasn’t drinking much water. So what I’ve learned so far:

    DRINK LOADS OF WATER!!

    Get cardio in at least 5 – 6 times per week, but you need strength training too if you want a good body shape.

    If you’re a veggie like me you can get plenty of protein from nuts, legumes, beans, pulses, tofu, soya, quorn, eggs, and fish (if pescetarian).

    As you build muscle you might actually find you weigh more, so it’s best to go by measurements and not the scales!

    It REALLY helps to have people around going through the same thing to swap ideas with, discuss frustrations, what works etc.

    I’m still new to this and finding my feet. Hoping to lose 15 lbs asap to go back to a size 8 from a 12 x

    Myfitnesspal is great – I used it for a few months, and now I don’t even need to use it because you get used to eating the right ammount of calories.

    Also I did the cabbage soup diet to kick start my weight loss last year. With that, I lost about 6lbs in a week, then continued to loose another stone over the next year with myfitness pal and by doing excersise a few times a week.

    I also listen to Paul Mckenna’s ‘I can make you thin’ mind suggestion track as I go to sleep every night (after having read the book). It’s the first time I’ve lost weight and kept it off!! xx

    Well done bethy!!:) I did cabbage soup diet for a bit years ago and loved it apart from the stinkiness and boredom from eating the same thing. I still eat cabbage soup now and then though, it’s yum, esp when mixed with onions or carrots or chilli x

    I’d recommend the Paul Mckenna book/cd – it really worked for me! And I don’t even have to listen to the track, just put it on and go to sleep. I bought the book off ebay for cheap – just make sure the cd comes with it! xx

    Oooo may have to invest I’m useless at cutting down I’m a junk food addict lol. But I could use to eat what I want n not gain, but in all fairness the last 2 month I bet I have been eating 3000-4000 calories per day (blush) so I can’t complain saying I’m gaining weight its gonna happen wen I eat like I do xxx

    I don’t think all the small fad diets work like atkins, yeah you loose weight fast but it doesn’t stay off as as soon as you starting eating carbs again it piles back on. You shouldn’t have to live like that anyways! I love slimming world, you can still eat what you want, obviously following the diet but it’s amazing, plus you can have unlimited chips! Aslong as they are slimming world, i’ve lost a stone & a half on it & you learn some really good receipes which to be honest taste as good as the real thing but a lot less calories xxx

    Well I’m on 2nd day of eating healthy, also got ny partner doing it too haha. So far so good, already my stomach isn’t as bloated, just need to get the hang of drinking more water, I never drank any before and it really does work wonders makes you feel so much fuller xx

    Just started slimming world yest so fingers crossed! Feels weird being able to eat unlimited pasta, rice etc but I’m not hungry at all! Charlottem88 what kinds of foods are you eating? I love pasta so I’m thinking this might just be the diet for me lol! Did try weight watchers but I was so hungry on it, I just love my food too much! Xx

    Slimming world is excellent – my mum lost 2 and a half stone last year on it. It’s the first time I have ever seen her slim in my life!! She loved that you can eat as much as you like of pasta and chips xx

    Holy f**k thats loads!!! Well done you! My boyfriend is sat next to me with a big fat yummy sausage casserole with dumplings, pototoes and bread! I am not impressed and he knows it! I’ve had 1200 cals today and done a body combat class which burns 500-600 cals. I want to lose a stone xx

    Lol its not so bad for me cause my boyfriend has started it too so everything we more or less eat is same, normally when I use to try n eat good He would say do you want a takeaway and I couldn’t resist lol. Wow 500-600 cals that’s loads burnt :) just been weighed and lost another pound yayy. Also doing my measurments too, I wana be reyt 4 my surgery but only got 15 days left lol xx

    Ive been using http://www.foodfocus.co.uk to log all my food and excercise. In 7 weeks I’ve lost 13lbs and only have 6lbs left until I hit my goal (8 stone 3lbs). Also wanted to say that carbs are not the complete enemy, especially if you are doing lots of exercise, as you need that energy! xx

    That’s the problem, my boyfriend isn’t dieting and can pretty much eat what he wants. He says I don’t need to diet either which is nice but I feel like a blob at the mo. I’m a large size 12 which I haven’t been in a while and want to get down to a comfy 10 so a stone to 1.5 stone needs to go! Problem is cos he doesn’t think I need to diet he’s not all they helpful like saying on let’s go out for a curry! Yeah that’s 3 days worth of food in one go! Lol. Using myfitnesspal to keep track!

    I just stay away from carbs completely apart from when I go on holiday or on occasions like my birthday or Christmas. The last time I had carbs was in December at Christmas; it’s extreme but it works for me. I also fast once a week, usually on a Monday to ‘clear my mind’. If you attempt this then you will find that you can’t/don’t want to eat carbs that much anyway; get yourself a dietitian too as they can give you a variety of recipes so you don’t get bored because you are very limited as to what you can eat. He/she will also make sure you don’t go overboard and damage yourself! I eat red meat occasionally but I love chicken, fish and seafood…especially octopus lol! I also have a variety of vegetables with each meal apart from breakfast which is usually a shake or a bar; some people may say that this is unhealthy but these are specialist health foods that are ordered by my dietitian so I get everything I need…I’ve put on weight since my op as I haven’t been able to exercise which I’m really depressed about so I’m just drinking camomile tea for a month and hope that shifts some of this horrible flab!

    I also take 2 types of mineral and multivitamin tablets twice a day to prevent bone brittleness and to keep my hair, nails and skin in good condition.

    Lastly, keep a good exercise regime; a personal trainer isn’t a must but they can be very helpful as they can guide you in the right direction and draw up a plan that’s best for you. Don’t choose a sexy one either; let’s just say things can become very awkward down the line! ;) My PT is ex army so he is brutal and yells at me all the time but he gets the job done! Anyway I usually do an hour of cardio on the cross trainer and half an hour of weight training; always do weights last as they keep your metabolism higher and at a more steady rate for longer

    Personally everything I tried to do on my own I failed but some have more willpower than others I suppose! Good luck to all and remember thinner is the winner :) x

    Ffs!! The boy is whining cos I’ve just worked out how many cals are in the sausage casserole he made last night and has just boxed up for me to take to work. 3 sausages 2 dumplings veg and gravy works out at about 700 cals!!! No wonder I’ve been puttin on weight! Don’t want to eat it now but he’s saying it’s a waste. Dieting sucks, especially when your other half just doesn’t get it :-( xx

    My other half is blessed with a beautiful muscular body naturally (lucky me!), and he can eat everything in the world and still be the same. I on the otherhand have to sniff a sausage roll to put on a stone….he just doesnt get it!! He comes home with chocolate and cakes for me all the time – and it’d be rude not to accept ;) xx

    I broke and ate the casserole!! Dammit!! Can’t see good food wasted though. That puts me on 1450 cals today but I only had 1200 yesterday and burnt off 500-600 at the gym and will be doing the same again tomorrow :-/ xx

    Well today I had a banana and yogurt for brekki which BTW was not good havnt eaten banana in yrs and will never again I seem to be intolerant to them :/ stomach cramps then I had a cup of green tea, for lunch I had turkey breast and salad sandwich on wholemeal teacake, and then for tea I’ve had omellete with 1 yolk and 2 egg whites and had in it chicken breast and a sprinkle of lighter cheese. Followed by a multigrain cracker and cup of green tea. This is extra extra healthy for me lol a normal day to me usually consisted of a McDonald’s and a pizza at night time and about 5 bags of crisps lol xx

    Dolly, have you got any tips for tatsy carb free food? Im trying to cut them down as much as possible although i do struggle with breakfast. Ive been having fruit n fibre for brekkie then a chicken salad for lunch and whatever the family are having for dinner minus the carbs just with extra veg but it gets soooo boring lol. Ive been trying to eat ealthier for about 2 months and i swear i havent lost a pound. Obv not been able to exercise but would have thought diet alone would make a difference. Id love to get below 10st but its stuck at 10st 3 :-(

    @Samsjs78 it can be nice to marinate chicken/fish before you grill it, that’s what my aupiar does (I think) and also prawns can be nice with some low fat sauce.

    Also, have low fat soup with lunch and dinner if you can to fill you up more…most people really struggle with the hunger to begin with when cutting out carbs.

    As mentioned before I get shakes and bars from my DT as far as breakfast is concerned, maybe just try fruit and 0% yoghurt?

    I’m a bit of a freak and I like octopus and squid LOL so I have that sometimes but that’s not for everyone :) xx

    I’ve been dieting for 2weeks having only a coffee and a banana for breakfast then rivitta and a cup a soup (chicken noodle has lowest sugar,salt and calories) and a fat free yogurt then for dinner fish/chicken on a side plate which never amounts to more than 400 calories. I won’t eat anything after 8pm and do a daily workout of press ups, situps, weights etc in the house and go a cycle or jog 2x weekly. I’ve toned up quite quickly and am losing a steady 2pds per week. I’m 9stone now aiming for 8.5stone before my op in late may.

    I do find it hard not to nibble as I have a sweet tooth, but if I’m paying thousands for boobs I want the body to go with them hehe!

    Well I passed a big test today, 2 massive tubs of marks and spencers cookies were brought into work and I only had one! I included in my calorie count and I’m still under for today :-) it was soooo tempting but I was strong lol xx

    I’ve had a bag of wotsits and a digestive tonight lol, cause I totald my calories up and it only come to 780 that’s waaay too low lol so I thought il have something to take it up abit. But I’ve lost another pound yayy 7ib gone now another 5 to go and then I just want to tone up, gonna join gym after I’ get boobs done n pass 6wk mark lol xx well done Amy you go girl :) xx

    Yeah hun you wanna be on 1000-1200 (depending on your weight) or your body will go into starvation mode and start storing fat. If you don’t eat enough your body panics cos it doesn’t know where it’s next meal is coming from and if it will give you enough energy so it stores it up. Yeah do it! I love the gym, more for the classes than anything but it keeps you motivated. I did body combat on weds and today and gonna do a double whammy of kettle bells then combat again tomorrow. I’m really on it now, day 4 tomorrow :-) xx

    I’m 8st 6 at the moment. But my normal weight is around 7 stone 10, until I had the contraceptive implant in lol. Yea I thought I was eating around 1200 but it seems not lol. Have to work on that :/ xx

    I genuinely feel quite ill now. I thought exercise was supposed to make you feel better WTF?!?! Its not like im new to the gym either xx
