The Contraceptive pill and Op?

Has Anybody been told to come off the contraceptive pill until after op??

Yes, I was told 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks post op xx

I’m not on that but I remember seeing one of the girls says she can’t take it until 6 weeks post op I think

yeah me, i got told 6 weeks yet everyone else got told 2! do not wait 6 weeks, big mistake lol xx

No Chloe, i emailed my PC (as I wasnt on depo or any contraception at pre-op but went on it a few days after and my op is coming up) she said as long as your not pregnant it’s ok xx

and think injections are ok, alot of people told me that having the injection would be ok just not the pill 🙂

I’d still use protection if you don’t come off the pill, as antibiotics can make the pill ineffective/ less effective…a couple of my friends had unplanned pregnancies because of this xx

definitely, I’m on the pill because of my heavy periods which is caused by my anemia. I did tell the nurse that she told
Me to come off it and get my period out the way,but I will be constantly
Bleeding untill I take it again, I really don’t think she understood. It’s safer I take it I
Think. I’ve done my own research aswell which I’ve seen they say to stop taking it as it causes blood
Clots, but I have a problem clotting anyways. I’ll carry on takin it of other

Yea I just got the pill injection instead x

I asked surgeon about this and he told me that it was fine to carry on taking it as the risk of me getting pregnant was far higher than the risk with GA, he said as long as I don’t smoke (which I don’t) there would be no complications. Hope this helps 🙂 x
