Am making a list for stuff to do and things to pack before my op, most of this is from advice from forum, and some from the MYA list they gave me. Please feel free to add to this as I am sure there are other things I’m forgetting, will also post in the boobie bible (a lot of tips came from there)
To get:
Cocoa butter with shea butter lotion – applying to skin in the hope it will prevent stretch marks
Dry shampoo
Hibiscrub body wash (Boots online) for before op and after to prevent infection
Laxatives (for pain killer side effects!)
Dermatix scar sheets (ebay)
V pillow (£10 Argos)
Hot and cold compresses (Boots online)
Zotrim – natural slimming aid that makes you feel full for longer (so I hopefully don’t put on weight while I’m unable to go to gym)
Macom bra and couple of spare sports bras
PJ’s that front fasten
To take to hospital:
Clothes that front fasten and are comfy
Macom bra
V pillow and duvet (for car journey home to pad me out)
Camera
Phone charger
Books/games/mags for filling in the time before and after op
Deoderant
Hair brush and make up bag
Snacks and drinks
Pre-op don’ts:
Use fake tan 1 week before
Use aspirin or ibuprofen 2 weeks before (or after) op
Use deoderant or body lotion 24 hours before op
No make up, nail varnish, false eyelashes
No metal (piercings, hairbands etc)
No alcohol 48 hrs before surgery (I was told 1 week tho)
No food, drink or gum for 6 hours before admission (not surgery), no water for 2 hrs before admission
Pre-op do’s:
Get anything out of high cupboards before op that you might need
Get some easy to put on clothes that you don’t have to lift your arms up to get into
Get lots of dvd’s, books and mags to pass the time for the first week
Be lazy, do as little as possible, it’s not worth risking your new boobies just to put the kettle on!
brill..think i’ll copy and paste this for 3wks time lol! Cant think of anything else! xxx
yeah really good list! thanks for sharing x
Took ages to find all the info so thought it’d save others time, plus others can add anything I’ve missed so we can get everything together in one place, boobie bible is great too but I keep losing it on the pages x x
Don’t use Arnica either (your don’t list for pre-op) unless your surgeon advises it. It’s also a blood thinner. List looks good hun xx
Ooh thanks, I saw that was recommended by some but I didn’t bother because the bruising didn’t bother me, some people take tablets tho so that’s really useful to know. MYA should give you a list like this like when you go on holiday!
Yes, their list isn’t really comprehensive is it lol. But i guess they can’t cover everything on there or it would be a book!! Good to see you have done your research anyway
xx
Fab list,it needs to be in the boobie bible it will be a big help to new members, well done honey.xxxx
why cant you take ibuprofen a week before? x
Apparently it’s like aspirin, bad for bleeding or similar, paracetamol is fine tho. It wasn’t on the MYA list but the nurse told me to leave off it or a couple of weeks before the op, just as well as I use it a lot!
oo i was taking nurofen mix af paras and ibuprofen cause got a cold at min took it sunday and yesterday , but just noraml paracetamol today my ops on monday should be ok shudnt it as long as i dnt take anymore? x
same here hun i tooke a ibuprofen this morn as i have my period and ive got my op on thurs oops hope its ok coz my nurse didnt say anything. xx
Fab just wrote it all done on my shopping list, ready for mu op, thanks xx
Is it really no fake tan for a whole week?? Ive got a party 5 days before and need to fake tan!! lol xx
List looks good. But some further advice from someone post-op.
You won’t be allowed to use the following (if you’re having a BA):
Deodrant
Cream for anti-stretch marks (you’ll be completely covered up)
Moisturiser (for above/below bandage – as it can weaken bandage before post-op appt to take it off)
And I wouldn’t advice the following/they aren’t necessary:
Snacks/drinks – may need some drinks but they do feed you in there!
Macom bra – dependent on your surgeon, most don’t advise wearing one for a week until bandage is off, as the bandage will support you sufficiently (I/others have just put plasters over nips to cover then as they’re out of bandage)
Hairbrush/make up – your choice ofcourse but it’s unlikely it’ll be on your mind as you leave the hospital.
Some more advice:
I was told no alcohol, smoking or taking the pill for 2 weeks before and after, as all 3 can affect thinning of the blood and blood clots can form – make complications further on.
Arrive at the hospital a clean slate, even I forgot no nail varnish!
Make sure your hair is tied up tight/properly as you arrive/when you change into gown in the hospital, as lifting your arms above your head can be very difficult – I’ve had my boyfriend attempting to brush/tie my hair up all week when I’ve dry shampooed it/it’s come loose! Trust me girls, some men are RUBBISH at even brushing hair…! Xx
I should think the odd bit of ibuprofen should be ok, if they didn’t tell you then it can’t be that bad. Bit gutted about the tanning lotion tho but that’s what they said, assume they want the skin totally free of all products to prevent infection, as the tan tends to linger for days that’s prob why?
I added snacks as a few girls said the hospital forgot to feed them – so just in case!!!
And remember when you tie hair up not to have the bands with the metal bits on them, they’re banned too apparently!
if you have a piercing you can swap it for a plastic one for the op rather than take it out, I have had a temporary one put in x
dont foget to take piks so u can do before and after piks haha xx
Yeah, I think I stuck camera on there somewhere, gotta do my boobie diary!!!
probly is i cant of seen it lol i flicked frew it fast lol x
I am sure I will have missed things, and even with it I will forget something and remember half way there, am so dizzy! I’ll prob take the camera and forget to charge the batteries!
Thanks princess76…
