Has anyone else found wearing a really tight fitting vest (like the H&M £3.99 ones) more comfy than wearing a sports bra?

Im washing all my bra’s right now and have got a tight little vest on and its so much more comfy and feels far more supportive too cos im not worried about it rubbing my scars, like I am with my bras. I have had the band on my bra’s really loose cos I dont want it to aggravate my scars but I think its probably taking away some of the support.

Surely if some surgeons say dont wear a bra for 6 weeks and some (like mine) say wear a sports bra 24/7 for 6 weeks, there cant be a great detrimental effect if you have a few hours either without a bra and wearing a loose fitting top, or just wearing a supportive vest without a bra.

    What do you think? x

I definately won’t be in mine 24/7 for 6 weeks. Espesh after hearing that some surgeons prefer if you don’t wear a bra – apparently not wearing one can help your boobs drop faster! xx

Hey missmck, I’m really glad you mentioned this as when I was just over 2 weeks post op I went to my local supermarket and bought lots of pretty supportive vests with hidden support and like you whilst I was washing all my other sports bras I wore these and found them so much more comfy. I’m not sure whether this is a good thing, but I’m a firm believer that if you find that vests provide more support, then wear them. However, I would still discuss this with your nurse (just to be on safe side) and even on your next appointment wear it and see what she thinks… I think I might do that on my next appointment and feed back to the forums. xxxx

I’ve tried to get these vests but been told they are summer stock?

Re bras and scars, i actually found that mine rubbed more if the band was too loose as my boobs had dropped so the scar was in the crease, when the band was loose it would ride up and rub really badly.

I can’t wait to not wear my bra 24/7, i’ve got a little rash where i’ve always got it on, although i do take it off for an hour whilst watching telly just to have a rest from it x

I have started having a rest for an hour or two infront of the telly…feels amazing! They’ve started to drop now as well, before when I was wearing my bra they weren’t going anywhere!! I can’t wait to burn my MACOM. x x x

Ros, go to Topshop if you cant get them in H&M. They have such thick straps so the support is there and they are made of lycra and cotton so they hug my boobs and keep them propped up :-)

I really dont feel im getting any support from my bras. Like you know when you take off a bra thats been holding you up you expect your boobs to drop down a little, dont you… But when i wear my bras it doesnt feel like they are doing anything. I have to have the straps really tight and the band really tight to feel really held in, but this is just uncomfortable! Where as my vest holds me in and moves with me and feels so much better.

Will definitely ask the nurse when i see her for my 3 week check. I heard boobs drop quicker without a bra and it makes sense to think that they would too.

You can get them vests with hidden support in Primark i found… 2 for £4.00

I know one girl i soke to a few months back, Rachieboo had Dr Adamo and he said dont wear a bra but she used to wear a string bikini! LoL and her boobs looked HOT! x

If it was bad not to have them in a sports bra then surely EVERY surgeon would say wear one? x

Boobs look nicer too in vests! In sports bras they dont sit right! x
