I was told I would have to take mine out, don’t really think you’ll be allowed anything in it’s place as the anaesthetist won’t want to catch it when intubating. Just going to take mine out last min and put it straight back in when I wake up Xx

You can buy a plastic retainer to put it but not sure if your allowed them, you would have to ring your pc and ask. You can pick them up in most body jewellery shops for around £4 x

I took mine out @ the last minute before theatre, and didn’t wake until I was back in my room 2hrs later, and it went straight back thru my tongue after I’d had a drink x

I have had my tongue pierced for nearly 7 years now so it wont heal up that quickly for me when it comes to the op. But if your worried, then ask ur pc if u can wear a plastic flexi bar xx

Ahh you should be fine then! My friend got hers done at the same time as me, and she took hers out earlier this year, then 3 months later she could still get it in! xx

I was told absolutely nothing in my mouth- metal/plastic/anything. If any part of it comes away and goes down your throat into your lungs, you’ll be in trouble! <– that’s what my anaesthatist said to me! x

Plus they don’t seem to be too careful with the tube, they cut the back of my throat and the roof of my mouth with the tube, so you’re better off not having anything in there at all
