Trouble sleeping post op – back ache and pain

Hi ladies,

Not sure if anyone else is suffering in the same way but I had my BA 4 days ago and I’m really struggling to sleep! I’ve been sleeping on my back but I never usually sleep on my back and staying in the same position all night is giving me horrendous back ache!

Does anybody find the same thing or have any good ideas? Also, how long will it take for the pain to go away and for the swelling to go down?

Hey karin i had ba 5 days ago and im sufferin with back ache it was the bottom of my back first then 5 days on its all of my back…i ketp wakin up threw the night make sure im still in the same place.. iv got bout 3 pillows &v-pillow aswell. Just dont no what to do to stop havin back ache. X

Hi Girls I brought the best thing ever from Argos, it is 19.99 and worth ever penny. It is called a backrest. It looks like the top half of a sun lounger. It is adjustable and you put in on the top of your bed I put my v pillow on top of it and I have had not back ache and I don’t move about. Hope this helps x

i had the same thing but i sit with a heat cushion on my back thru the day now that has helped alot to ease it thru the day

Its does get easier girls, my v pillow was amazing though….so glad i bought one Think it was about 2 weeks before I moved into a different position but lying on my side was really uncomfortable too. I can now sleep on my stomach again 8 weeks post op x

hya girls im 2 weeks post op and im laying slightly on my side now, its very uncomfertable sleeping on my side properly, but it does get easier as each night comes i keep going further onto my side x

hi my back neck n shoulders r reli painful n i hardli slept las nite cos i cudnt get comfy. i usuali sleep on my side so how long do i have to wait b4 i can agen? also rhe flatter i lie the more painful my boobs r it feels lyk thy r bein stretched is this notmal cos its freakin me out? x

Ella, i also find sleeping flat hurts alot, especially in the morning, the pain is unreal! It seems to wear off during the day though and i can move ok! Just dread waking up in the mornings!

Does anybody know how long for the swelling to go down?

i know i dread going to bed at night lol n my mum is gettin em the back rest 2. i think its different for evri1 but mine have gone down today after 5 days but stil have swelling n bruisin down the sides. x

Hi there im 5wks post op and my god it was bad at first this slepping..believe it or not im still propping myself up now as still lil swelling going on on left boob..i had such bad backaches and stiff necks..i got a bean bag was fab to lay on with the support of head..back..also v pillow on top..

laying on bk is bad news if in pain wen the morning comes hey i stupidly did that a few times..couldnt get bk up xx
