hey ladies, so I’m 2 and a half weeks post op and my sternum is still so swollen, making my boob like all one boob! I went from completely flat, so I’m wondering if this is why? I feel like my skin is still so swollen and stretched out especially in the center! has this happened to anyone? x

Mine were really stretched like that for at least the first month too so i wouldn’t worry too much hun. The first few weeks are the hardest.. although you will feel like you have frankeboobs, you haven’t really… it’ll all work out in the end hehe :D After a couple of months mine settled down completely. Just try not to look at them too much right now xxx

ha thanks hun, they look so weird at the moment, I’m getting impatient! they look so weird in a bra and are still so high and hard up to my neck! x

This is the part no one warns you about. You think you wake up with lovely new boobies but it’s not like that unfortunately… you gotta go through boobie blues and frankenboob first lol (what you’re feeling right now). Drink lots of water and get enough sleep as the GA will still be in your body making you feel a bit down and rough. This will pass and you’ll start to see them developing a more natural look soon :) ((hugs)) xx

Hey! Have u tried taking arnica? Arnica is used for after surgery to reduce swelling and bruising. It’s safe to take and it’s cheap to buy,u can get them from boots :) I been told to take them.. Maybe ask ur nurse if it’s ok, it’s worth a shot x x

ooo yeah i might, thanks for that! xx

Arnica isn’t safe to take for up to 6 weeks after the op unless your surgeon gives the go ahead. It’s a blood thinner, and combined with any painkillers you may be taking that are also blood thinners, it can actually put you in danger of heamorrage and prevent the stitches healing.

Some surgeons are ok with it, others are not, it will depend on what meds you’re on and other lifestyle factors. After 6 weeks though start using arnica in cream form, it’s brilliant for reducing bruising and swelling x
