Hi ladies, i had my op on Wednesday and thought id share my experience as i know it helped me reading others!

I was booked in Manchester Lifestyle, and had to get there at 7.30 in the morning, which meant no food from midnight the night before! When i arrived the staff were lovely, had to fill in a few forms and then i was taken to my room where i unpacked. Everything happened fairly quickly at the beggining, a nurse came and took all my details and put my gown and paper knickers on, and then about 9 my surgeon (Helena) came and marked me up and had a last minute chat. They said there was one small procedure before me so i would probably go down at about 10. I told my mum to go home as i wasnt at all nervous and no point hanging around.

Then the nurse came and told me they had rescheduled the list and i would be seen until 1! So i had 3 hours to hang around, read magazines and have a nap lol good job i wasnt nervous or i would really have had enough!!

At 1 on the dot the anaethestist came and took me down, i just walked into the lift and down the corridor into a seperate room. I had to lie on a bed and get strapped up (some things on my legs to stop dvt, and a various monitors and patches attatched here and there). Then the main anaesthetist came and put the thing into my vein (a bit sore but nothing major) and before i knew it i could feel a cold sensation going up my arm, i was chatting away to them and then everything started tingling and i slowly dropped off to sleep! Next thing i could hear a nurse calling my name and it was all over!!

Everyone said i would sleep for hours after, but i didnt sleep at all!! Think i was too excited, although i was very woozy and felt really sick! I ate some of my tea but had to be spoon fed as i wasnt really with it lol. Very thirsty aswell, and just a bit sore! In the night i woke about every hour and had to get the nurse to help me to the loo, that was the hardest bit!

Next day i had my drains removed, which i was dreading but actually wasnt too bad! Just to warn you, you may find that you are really sweaty, and the sweat has a kind of cat wee smell that is hard to get rid of!! Its just the drugs coming out, so take some wet wipes!

Im feeling ok today, bit tired, and as if someone has sat on my chest!! When i stand up i feel asthough they are gonna fall off, and im sure they have got smaller already lol maybe im just used to them!!

I will keep you updated with my recovery and put some pics on :)

Any questions please feel free to ask, hope this has helped
