    Hello all.

I’ve been reading that a lot of you are being discharged from hospital the same day of surgery.

Just wondering if anyone else who’s having a ba done with MYA is being told you have to stay overnight because your having general anaesthetic? I’ve asked twice now to go in as a day case and have been told that I have to stay overnight.

    Please let me know x

    Hi Annie

I had my BA on Wednesday at the Lifestyle Hospital with Mr Traynor. I was only in as a day case as were four other girls. I think it depends on which surgeon you are having as not all of them do day cases. I don’t think Mr Kazzazi does day cases cos he uses surgical drains. Which surgeon are you thinking of having hun?
Because I was a day case and lived over 2 hours away, I had to stay in a hotel within a 1 hours drive of the hospital when I got discharged, in case I needed a nurse for one reason or another.
If you were booked in as a day case and you felt unwell afterwards due to the GA they would keep you in overnight anyway. And from what I have read on this forum, its at no extra cost.
Being a day case also makes a difference to the overall price. I was booked in for a over night stay originally, but when I had my consultation with Mr Traynor I asked him if he did day cases, he said yes, so I went with that and got

    Hi Lizzie and Jo

Thank you both for your replies.

I live at least 2 and half hours drive from Highgate so maybe that’s why I am being told I cannot have a day case. I’m having mine done with Mr Singh at Highgate. Jo I see you stayed at Highgate, what was parking like? I’ve read that it can be pretty hard to find a parking space. What time were you discharged? Sorry for so many questions didn;t think I was worried but now I can’t seem to settle and worrying about the smallest of things !!! x

Hi Annie, i also live over 2 and a half hours from Highgate, so had to stay overnight. It’s just incase there is a problem. I felt a bit safer staying overnight anyway. There is parking just infront of the hospital, but not too many spaces. But you can park just around the corner too..xx
