Hi girls, I am 10 days away from my op so will prob be posting lots of questions I think of over the next week!
Do you feel really grubby post op? I know you can have a shallow bath but how do you shave your armpits (is it just using a cloth to dampen them?) and what is the easiest, least painful way to wash your hair? I’m only taking a week off work and really don’t fancy going back in all greasy, with armpit hair and a funny smell about me lol xx
hey hun….
shaving is a nightmare…my arm pits are still swollen day 16po and i still struggle to shave lol they not flat anymore but harder to shave lol
first weeek you shallow bath and ask someone to help you wash your hair over the bath….it hurts to leave forward but you will need help…probably to also get in and out the bath and probably also ask someone to help u wash ur back.
after 7 th day nurse check up….u can shower but make sure water is not too hot to soften incisions….shower as quick as u can…and i used johson and johnson baby bath on my skin and still am…buy a cotton towel that u can use to pat dry ur incisions with after…first 7 days dont get them wet….wash around them gentley…
on day 8….dry ur incisions with cold air on ur hairdryer.
i was in pain until about day 10-11 then it started to ease…went back on day 8 to work…but felt awful…we all have different recoverys tho u might feel okay….
hope this helps….
ps on day 8 u can start putting some wash easier under ur arms to shave..before that use a sponge with gentle wash and hold a towel over boobies so they dont get wet…xxx
I booked n at hairdressers to have it washed and blown so that i didnt have to worry about it
im a year po and still struggle to shave my pits lol, i cant see past my boobs properly ( thats onest truth no messing lol)
try the dry shampoo for you hair it will do wonders
xx
Got the dry shampoo at the ready
thanks girls. This isn’t gonna be a nice process! xx
the first week…i didnt wana look in the mirror…felt gross coz you cant wash properly….but then day 8 the first shower feels like heaven:)
I’m thinking I might have to wait longer for a shower as I’m also having a nip lift, hmph. Really hope not though!xx
stock up on baby swipes…fragrance free…was my life saver:)especially on wiping around the boob area to avoid it getting wet…
Thanks babe. Have sent you a FR, hope you don’t mind
xx
No I haven’t cos we’re already friends lol, I got confused with the name change haha xx
I went and had a complete de fuzz, lasts about 4 weeks comfortably, dry shampoo and baby wipes, till I could stand no more at about day 3! then shallow bath, got my daughter to do my hair, yep that 1st shower will be heaven. good luck with it girls. x
I washed my hair myself over the bath no problem at 5 days po. Dry shampoo is bloody awful yuk! Shaving ya pits is a nightmare! I had waterproof dressings on so having a bath was a bit easier as i didnt have to worry so much about them getting wet! xx
my fella washed my hair over the bath, took ages to get into a position that didnt hurt, but i booked into the hair dressers as well. pits are a nightmare, so book a wax before your op, the pain is better then looking like a german! at a week post op i could shave them myself, i used a cloth to dampen, and held a towel under them to catch any excess water. i had 18 days without a full shower, and i felt awful, so minging and horrid, and the first shower on day 19 took me over an hour, it is my best friend! just looking forward to a proper good soak in a bubble bath, iv even bought the new bubbles and lots of candles for the occasion xx
