So wondering what other people were managing to do the first few days after their op? I’m day 3 po today and feel a little more able to do things. I pushed it the first day so spent yesterday relaxing but feel I should do more from today. I’m occasionally opening my sports bra for 30 seconds and redoing it as it feels tight.
I had overs Wednesday, what were you girls able to do the first week after? And when was you almost back to normal?x
Hi Nikki … Congratulations on your BA … glad your healing well xx
My advice is ..if you are able to do nothing … Do nothing ! Bar getting up and having a little walk around the house every so often to relieve your numb bum …
Your boobs need every chance to settle in and repair ..you’ve just has two operations so for next couple of weeks at least keep big arm movements to a minimum.
You’ll have the strapping off soon – which is a lovely feeling ? & you should be able to shower then ..another lovely feeling haha ..
Take care … Rest up & happy healing xxx
I have a baby and a toddler so won’t be able to do nothing for long. My partner is back at work Monday but will be going to my nans for help. I don’t want to seize up but I also don’t want to over do it. Just wanting to find the medium really xx
hello! i am just walking around a bit, i went town yesterday with my mum and I have my friends wedding today but i still feel knackered after doing the simplest things so will probably leave the wedding after a few hours. do whatever your body allows, everyone is different but it is a major operation so your body needs time to get better! don’t push yourself! i would go as far as walks out, maybe popping out for lunch? definitely no housework! 😉 xx
I have a 9 month old and my boyfriend is working. My mother in law had her the day after but I’ve struggled since. I haven’t picked her up but I had to last night as she was crying loads. She’s crawling everywhere so I’m still having to guide her just not pick her up. My boyfriend hasn’t grasped how much I need to try and rest and it’s pissing me off a bit. He’s off today and tomorrow so hopefully he’ll help – but only if I ask! I just hope it’s not going to delay my recovery too much but I don’t have any other help with her 🙁
Thanks Helen, nice to know your going out the week after your op. I went to my nans the day after my op and sat in the garden, I was fine but did have a good nap afterwards. I think I’ll go out today (day3po) as my toddler is bored bless her.
I feel for you Sonia, having a baby crawling around must be hard. Luckily I have a 5 month old hat ain’t on the move yet and my 2 year old is good and understands I’m sore.
My fiancé has been amazing to be honest, I literally haven’t lifted a finger since I’ve been home. But I think today I need to start moving more and doing more for myself as he is back to work Monday.
Just kind of want to fast forward these next couple of weeks. Want to look after my babies properly xx
Hi nikki. I had my op on Monday and I’ve got myself into a routine since day one. I’ll get up around 8am chill on the sofa with breakfast (antibiotic) and some morning telly. Then I’ll have my shallow bath and get dressed and every other day I’ve had someone wash my hair to try and make myself feel fresh! Then I’ll go for a slow walk outside for about an hour because my nurse said this was the best (and only) exercise I could do. When I come home I’m ready for lunch and a long nap and then in the afternoon I try to find something gentle to do in the house. I’ve cleared my wardrobe out, done loads of clothes washing and been outside as much as I can. Yesterday was the first day I managed to cook for myself because getting a knife through vegetables is surprisingly straining! And today is the first day I’m going somewhere more than 10 minutes away – we are going for a walk around the shops and the beach for a couple of hours. I’m sure I will be nakered this afternoon! The routine has really helped me pass time and I feel really well for it. I knew I would feel groggy and bored if I just lounged around. Can’t believe it’s been nearly a week already! Happy healing x
Thank you! That sounds really good, so your up and about quite a bit. I’m going out today, just to a family members house probably.
Does anyone find one incision hurts more than the other? My left incision seems to title and have a burning sensation more than the other? Is this normal?x
I’m day 2 post op. Had unders. I’m in sports bra and strapping.
I feel able to wander around the house with my painkillers, I’m also setting an alarm in the night to take them to avoid waking in agony. I have an 18 month old and she’s been bringing me pillows and cuddling my leg as she understands mummy is fragile. My fiancé has waited on me hand and foot, I couldn’t do it without him! He’s helped me wash and done my hair which has helped me feel better. My mother in law is having my little one tomorrow and she’s in nursery Tuesday. So I can rest up for my post op on Thirsday x
Similar to me jade. My fiancé has been so good to me, God knows how I’d have managed if he hadn’t. I definitely want to attempt doing more today.
Just tried to call mya to see if it’s normal about my left incision hurting more. It tingles and has burning sensation every so often. I’m not to worried as it feels ok and not swollen or hard but why is my left getting it more than my right?
Any advice anyone?xx
yeah i had my op Monday and it’s surprising how different you feel each day! i managed to get about 7 hours of sleep last night, i kept waking up to adjust my pillows but dropped straight back off again. can’t wait for the dressings and band to come off so i can shower again! went to the hairdressers yesterday to get my hair done which made me feel amazing 🙂 hope everyone is healing all okay! xx
Hey Nikki …it’s very normal for one side to heal differently to other .. My right side is still more swollen than left almost 4 weeks down the line & my left incision has ‘tingled’ more than the right even tho they are both well healed … Just remember it’s two separate ops so will heal differently and I think one side tends to be a bit slower than the other X
I agree my left feels more sore and more fragile than the right. Had a lot of pain on top this morning but an ice pack has helped a lot.
