In mine the nurse asked me some medical questions and we went over the sheet that I had filled out when I first came to MYA to make sure everything I had said was correct. The nurse will then take swabs from your nostril, your bikini line and your armpit to test for MRSA…if you don’t hear back from them within a week then it means your all clear and you don’t have it. I also had to give the address of my doctors surgery so they could get hold of my medical history….a couple of days later I had a letter from the doctors saying I had to pay £20 for them to send the information to MYA, which is what I did and never had any problems. I then had to sign some more forms for the nurse to take the ‘before’ pictures of my boobs which she did shortly afterwards. The nurse also took my blood pressure and made a note of it. I also had the opportunity to ask any more questions I had…In all I was in there about 20 minutes
Hope this helps and good luck! xx
I had mine on Monday. The nurse asked me some medical questions. Then I had to do 3 swabs nose, armpit and groin. I did all these myself and went behind a screen to do the groin swab. The swabs are for mrsa. The nurse also took some pictures of my boobs and printed out some info about the op do and dont’s ect. That’s about it really. xxx
I didn’t get to do my swabs myself!
the nurse did everything and she got a nice view of my freshly done Brazilian hahaha…oh well, I don’t really get embarrassed anyway
P.S leannexx, they give you an info pack (like cazz24 said) of do’s and don’ts pre/post op and an emergency calling card if anything goes wrong/doesn’t feel right after your op. xx
do they take blood ? am so scared as i work in a care home and there is a chance i could have mrsa
if i have what happens xxx
No, they didn’t take blood with me but for others it may be different, I’m not 100% sure…If you have it then you have to use this formula that you scrub on your skin for three weeks, you have to have 3 consecutive negative tests until your cleared, so this may postpone your surgery depending on when it is as MRSA affects the healing process really badly, plus they want to keep it out of the operating theatre because of other patients etc. The nurse will tell you exactly what you need to do if you have it and if you follow her instructions then you will be fine. Try not to worry too much…maybe you don’t have it at all
xxx
Haha dolly think it was because my nurse was a man. They didn’t take blood for me but I think they do if you have said you have had certain conditions. If you have mrsa they give you a body scrub which you have to use, when the times up you go back and get tested again. The nurse said its quite easy to treat. xx
