What happens if Aunt Flo is staying during the op??

Hi girls, sorry might sound like a daft question but I’m due on 2 days before my op which means it will be pretty heavy during op, great!! can I still use tampon’s during op?!? there seems to be so many things that you can’t do that I never even thought of this x

When i first read that a few months ago i thought how absurd but there I read that you can’t wear tampons. Not sure how accurate the advice is but it stated that you’d wear a pad!!! Ask your pc tho xx

I wore a tampon during my op yesterday and I was fine however i never got asked by anybody if i was on my period so i never mentioned it just carried on as normal, its something that cant be helped and i wasnt going to carry on taking my pill on my pill free week as it makes me bloat up enough without having to miss a period xx

Thanks girls – emmajaneb – I just saw your comment on a similiar post, should have read forum before asking duh! I think I’ll prob do the same or decide on day as think it may be quite heavy urg!! and I dont trust pads lol. I didnt think you could carry on with the pill during your op?? xx

the nurse told me at my pre-op that i didnt have to stop taking it as it was only minor medication but then again she scribbled all over the pre-op sheet and didnt agree with a single thing on it. I never got asked my the nurse at the hospital whether i was still taking the pill she just asked if i was on any medication so i told her ‘the pill’ and the name of it but she didnt ask whether i was taking it now or when was the last time i had taken it.

You are only in surgery for a normal BA for 45 mins to 1 hr so as long as you put a high absorbance tampon in just before they take you down you should be fine for that ammount of time x
