Hi hun im 2 weeks post-op today with Mr K!! I also went to Park-hill…..you go there fill in some forms down stairs and then they show you to the ward and your room…..they your blood pressure and may do other tests..Then the nurses come and give you your sexy theatre stockings which you out on and your gown (don’t forget to take a dressing gown and slippers tomwalk to theatre in lol) then Mr K will come and talk to you and draw on you and you sign some consent forms and he takes a pic on his mini ipad….afterwards the anesthitist will come and talk you through what he will do ask you if you have ever been under before etc, then you chill out watch tele etc and whn it’s time to go the nurse will come and get you to walk to theatre (not far just up in a lift) then you lay on a bed in the anesthitist’s room while they put you to sleep (I was sooooo nervous when I laid there as I had never been put to sleep before and I did’t know what to expect) but once they get a vein (I have crap ones so it took him a few times bless him) it hits you quickly I tried to fight it but it must have been at the most 10 seconds and I was out it felt like the most drunk I had ever been then the next thing that I knew I was waking up apologising to the nurses for not been able to look at them properly (you are very out of it coming around) I had an overnight stay they are attentive and give you meds and meausure your blood pressure throughout the night help you to the toilet (my drain fellout when I went to the loo so don’t freak it’s common) they fetch you water and biscuits (as I was late at night) only managed to eat one as I had severe dry mouth lol, think I only had about 2 hours sleep as I was so excited and not tired…..they come in in the morning take your drains out, help you get dressed and then you have your breakfast, if everythings ok then you can go home. You have a buzzer so that you can press it if you need anything…….sorry for rambling I just tried to be as helpful as possible xx
