I was three weeks PO on Saturday and i’m really feeling fine, nipples aren’t sore anymore, only get pain if i lay in certain positions, scars healing well and they’re getting really soft! so…….i was thinking maybe i’d go and just get measured today, not buy bras but just try a couple on. Would this be bad or will it not hurt to?

Oh also, i’ve been naughty and have had the odd day here and there without wearing my bra….is this bad?? Why is it supposed to be bad not to wear one anyway? xx

Hi Suzy. I too have the odd moment when I throw my bra aside. I think if Traynor tells his girls not to wear one for 6 weeks then it can’t be all that harmful.

I have refrained from getting measured and I’m 5 weeks post op. But most girls seem to go and get measured as soon as they can and at 3 weeks I’d imagine you’ll be ok to do so. I’m just holding out on the hope that I fluff but it aint gonna happen. And I’m not too bothered what I measure as I know they won’t look what they measure anyway. But it will be nice to see how they look in bras and how much more oompf I can get when they’re pushed up a bit! x

Hi Suzyp – i’vr got my op on 4th may with dr adamo – and he doesnt recommend sticking to the 6 week sports bra rule at all! – he said as long as u wear a bra thats not underwired, and as soft/comfy as possible… also some girls on here say the support vest tops from asda are really good, just enough support without being too tight/restricting

I cant wait to go on a mad bra spending spree!! :)

Glad 2 hear ur healing well hun xxx

Lisam that’s what i thought! If some surgeons say no bra at all for six weeks then it can’t hurt….it was driving me mad wearing one 24/7! I know i probably shouldn’t go and get measured today, will most likely measure something different at 6 weeks but i think all of the swelling has gone now so can’t be that different?….Just excited to really!

Katlouise, does he mean don’t wear a bra at all or definately wear a bra but doesn’t matter which as long as it’s not underwired? Does anyone know what the pros and cons are for wearing/not wearing a bra for six weeks? xx

Like Katlouise says, I was told ok to wear supportive type vest tops. Which was a sigh of relief to me as I was in agony wearing shock absorber bras 24/7. I wish they’d issue some standard bumpf about stuff like this but understand everyone has different opinions. I’ve been wearing really comfy sloggi vest bras for the past couple of weeks but still like to whip it off for a bit every now and then. x
