When should I go for surgeon consultations?

If I’m looking to do my operation in may 2012, when should I start having surgeon consultations? should I wait closer to the time?

I think you have to see the surgeon at least 6 months before your op, because of your body changing etc, so you might want to wait if you have to travel. Or you might want to see a few now, make your decision on which surgeon you want and then see them again for another consult nearer the time x
