I saw my nurse 7 days post op & she took the dressings off & trimmed my stitches & put fresh steri strips on, I can’t remember when she said to take them off? I’ve tried calling her all week have left messages but no reply!!!

    Anyone know? X

My nurse told me 7 days from that date. So effectively.. 7days after your 7day PO.

I have my 7day PO check last Wednesday but I left mine off until last night, and then bought fresh ones from asda and put them on, but only cause I worry about infection and my bra rubbing, but you can take them off 7days after your 1wk check up! xxx

@lucie22 hi chick, what are the steri stips you bought from asda? also is there a certain brand to get? Iv read about dermatix silicone gel strips to reduce and improve scars but im guessing the steri strips arent the same thing? aaa so confusing lol xx

Hi, the steri strips I have got from asda @ their pharmacy section. They are only to be used as a protective strip, exactly the same as the ones you originally get put on after the surgery. The brand is Elastoplast and is only £2.44 per pack.

The silicone gel strips you are referring to I also have, that are used only once the scar has heeled and can help to repair the scar tissue making it less bumpy and visible etc.. but I was told not to use these until after my 6wk cheek, however I have heard other girls are using them after a couple of weeks. But I am definitely going to wait.

Hi Melissa if she didn’t put any on you or mention them it’s because you didn’t need them, I didn’t have any as she said I was healed enough & to let air get at them is good too, so don’t worry x
