I have a consultation booked with Mya Fitzroy on Thursday and I have so many mixed feelings and emotions about ba and so many questions to ask!
I will just add a bit of background to my breasts at the moment and why I am considering ba.
I have been seen by an Nhs breast specialist. I have asymmetrical breasts. The right breast is larger and a completely different shape. It’s also very painful, even the slightest touch hurts. I also have a large hard lump and a few smaller lumps all in the right breast.
The appointment went well with the specialist in the sense there is nothing medically wrong. He believes the pain is muscular to my back and spine and that the lump is fatty tissue which is fine to be left. The asymmetry he has no explanation for. I understand if there is nothing medically wrong with me what can they do but I’ve still got asymmetrical, lumpy and painful boobs!
It’s really a massive problem for me. My right boob is a totally different shape size texture to the other. I’ve seen 5 doctors and specialist now and with out me mentioning a word they have all pointed it out straight away and confirmed the difference so I know it’s not just me thinking it. My boss at work made a comment saying it was different much bigger etc. My friends can see it and this is when I’m wearing a bra and clothes! I’m wearing boost bras all the time to try and even it out. It’s causing loads of problems between me and my partner as he is trying to be supportive but at any mention of it I’m just getting upset and crying as I feel embarrassed and ashamed of it. I want it fixed and just to be normal and them to look nice.
All of this has been going on for the past year now so this has now brought me to the point of booking my consultation with Mya.
Upon my research I’ve found Mya seem to be a large reputable company. For me I find the website easy to use and informative and I think myaspace is brilliant. My only concerns are that as a large company is the customer care good quality? I have read quite a lot of reviews stating the aftercare is poor and a lot of people suggesting once they have your money the care goes downhill from there. Of course like any large company there will be good and bad reviews but I just want to be sure I am doing the right thing by choosing Mya.
I am finding the whole thing a bit of a minefield as its only the large companies such as Mya, Harley medical, transform etc that have the reviews and info as the smaller private companies don’t provide that much info on the web. Also I am reluctant to pay for a consultation with a private company as It would be a waste if I didn’t book with them. I’ll be honest and say the horror story’s are making me a little weary of Mya and also the call centre type booking of my consultation felt a little “salesy”
I’m just so unsure of where to go, what to do and what I actually want! Help please girls!!!
So sorry to hear you are unhappy.
Hopefully this will be the beginning of something brilliant for you.
I met with transform and MYA before having my BA. I had expected to prefer transform as I thought MYA seemed more pretentious than transform. However as soon as I met the patient coordinator at MYA I was proved wrong and then this was completey confirmed when I met the surgeon too. They listened carefully to me, what I wanted, why I wanted it and planned it perfectly to suit me.
I found transform rushed me, I felt like a number and was shipped in and out, nothing was explained fully and they even sent me an email the same evening offering me a small amount of money off if I chose them which made me feel like it was all about the money to them.
Although there are some negative things on here about the after care, like you’ve said, that will be the same anywhere it’s just that we have access to it on here.
Just go with your gut, if you meet MYA and it doesn’t feel right, try elsewhere until you find the perfect fit for you! Equally if you meet with MYA and it feels right, then go for it!! You will know when it’s right.
I hope that helps and good luck!!

@harrietb my experience with mya has been fantastic. My PC is always available to answer questions, I met with my surgeon twice before the opp, had a pre opp consultation with the nurse, I got a call the day after my opp from the nurse and saw her 7 days post opp, I got a call from my PC to see how I was about 2 weeks in and remind me they are there if I need them before my 6 week check, and I’ll meet with the surgeon 12 weeks post opp to make sure I’ve healed correctly. Can’t personally fault them, would use them again and have no trouble recommending them. I’m registered with the Leeds clinic x
I had such a good feeling about MYA that I didn’t want to look elsewhere….and this was proven from start to now….11 days post op.
Everyone has been amazing and the hospital care was second to none.
Good luck with your ba journey x
Hi Harriet
I have exactly the same as you with regards to asymmetrical breasts except I don’t have any pain or lumps in my breasts. I initially went for a consultation with MYA and was very happy with my PC but wasn’t very keen on the surgeon because she said I needed an uplift, yet I have very small breasts and don’t feel like I needed one. So then I went f0r a consultation with Transform and it just felt right! My PC was lovely and I really liked the Surgeon. I told MYA that Ive paid my deposit with MYA and my PC still tried persuading me to change my mind and go with them instead. She tried making transform sound bad by telling me their aftercare and surgeons are not very good. I thought that this was very unprofessional and made me more certain about going with Transform rather than MYA!
Good Luck with everything!
Let me know if you have any questions because we seem to have similar experiences x
Not all smaller companies charge for consultations so if you see one you like give them a ring and see if they do don’t just book one consultation have a few with different companies you will just know when you’ve met the surgeon who’s right for you x
Thank you so much for all of your replies. It’s so reassuring to communicate with others who have personal experiences to share.
I’m glad that over all most of you have nothing but praise for Mya.
What I think has made me so hesitant and unsure was I came across some awful reviews on Facebook with some pretty shocking pictures ? what I’m finding hard to get past is that it’s not a bad review of a hair salon or a hotel it’s something that involves your body and it’s such a major thing for some to even get to the point of going for the op to then come away worse off that the start I honestly couldn’t think how that would feel. I think that’s my biggest fear.
@Jo I guess you hit the nail on the head in saying I will just know what feels right and to go with my gut instinct and feelings.
Definitely go to as many consultations with different companies because you will know which company is best for you. I again felt Mya was salesy and pushy and said bad things about the company I went to. But I couldn’t fault any girls results that have uploaded pictures on here. I’m sure surgeons at every company perform good boob jobs but it’s who you feel comfortable going with. There’s pros and cons for everywhere but you’ll make the right choice 🙂 xx
