Why NO makeup!!??

Hello.. Why can’t we wear make-up for OP??

I have to catch a train at 4.10am and don’t want to scare people so could I put a bit of make-up on & take it off when I arrive @highgate??? Xx

You probs could wear it there and just take makeup wipes!

I love my makeup but for one day! it doesnt really matter! x x

Pre-op notes just say remove false lashes, nails, makeup and piercings before admission. My nurse said that even includes nail polish as some anesthetist’s are funny. When you shower night before or morning of op and not to put anything on afterwards like moisturiser or deodorant. No false tan for 7days before, no moisturiser for 24hrs before, no alcohol for 48hrs before.

So i guess you could wear it and take it off, suppose it depends what you use to take your make up off?? If it doesnt have any moisturiser in it i cant see why you cant.

On the plus side it will be dark at that time in the morning, this is what i told myself! I even got chatted up by the ticket guy!?

I said to him that the glass in between us must be doing wonders because i’ve not got any make up on and i looked rough.

But you’ll have time to take make up off before your op and your room will have a bathroom and sink with mirror etc so just bring some cotton wool pads and some face wash or something

Heeey hunni its so that they can see if ur still breathing. Ur nails and face/lips go blue if u stop breathing. Its so they have lots of points to look at.

I hate not wearing make up. I look like a walking courpse.

But for one day im sure itll be fine.

Just wear it to the hosp then take it off with alcohol and purfume free wipes

goldfish lol, i thought they had thousands of pounds worth of machinery to se if ur breathing through your op LOL!!! X

I know its a worry aint it.

I read my pre op pack and it says it in there that they need ti see ya fingers lips and all thats lol.

To monitor ur breathing.xx

It’s not to see if you are breathing lol, it’s an early indicator that your whole body isn’t getting the oxygen it should be, that’s why nails must be clear including toe nails. Also they need to tape things in place and makeup would hinder this.

It is to make sure you are getting enough oxygen, your nails are the first indicators if you are not getting enough oxygen as they turn blue, having even clear nail polish on will hinder this.

Even worse no shower for a wk after ‘-C xx
