    Hiya Pam,
I’ve had 2 BA’s. The 1st BA I lost complete sensation in my right nipple and it took a good 12 months to come back. There are always pros and cons with implants and unfortunately as far as I am aware its not guarantted that sensation will be the same as it was before your op. However it does take time for implants to settle down so I would just be patient. I had my re-aug in June this year and my left nipple is still not too sensitive and my left bust itself(not the nipple though) is very sensitive particularly when I sleep on my side it really aches and I get the odd twinges. I’m not too worried as I’m hoping in another 6 months the sensitivity will come back and my left bust will settle down. If it doesn’t then at least i’ve got a pair of huge boobs and one working nipple!!!

Jacqui and Sara how are you both doing!!!

Awww Sara hun, that’s what i love about this site. Although none of us have ever met, we all support each other. I also don’t think i would have gone ahead with my ba, if it wasn’t for this forum. Although i had wanted one for such a long time, i’m sure i would have chickened out before the date!!! big hug to you xx

And Pam, it’s not yet a week for you hun. It is such an emotional rollercoaster, and i think probably all of us have wondered at some stage – should i have done it? what if something goes wrong? Am i going to like my new boobs? I think all of these feelings are quite normal, so don’t worry. Give yourself another couple of weeks hun, you’ll be feeling so much better. Big hug, chin up and chest out  xx

I know theres a light at the end, and am looking forward to that. Without you girls I dont know how i’d really be feeling at the mo, or if i’d of ever even had it done! lol

Thanks so much, for the support, advice courage and strength…love n hugs xxx

Awww girls it does get better, honestly.

Now looking back, the first 2/3 weeks you get all sorts of funny little twinges, sharp stabbing pains and sort of a burning sensation. My right boob seemed worst to me, and lifting my arms up took a good month to get easier. I think i was lucky as i didn’t lose any feeling in my nipples, in fact they were extra sensitive. But i did have some numbness at the bottom of my boobs. I did start driving, and went back to work at 8 days (office work) and felt fine.

When i went to see Mr Adamo at 7 weeks, he gave my boobs a real good squeeze and i was quite surprised that they didn’t hurt. Hubby had been scared of squeezing them, so he was happy that i could give him the thumbs up to have a go too!!!

I’ll be 9 weeks on Wednesday, and they feel absolutely fine. They’re soft and can wiggle, which is such a nice feeling!! I’ve just started wearing underwire bras, on alternate days, and they feel good. I love my boobs now, and definatley do not regret having them done, if anything i wish i’d had them done 10 years ago!!! I am 39 years old, so i know that i’m older than a lot of you girls, and i have breast fed 3 children. I think that once you have had children, your pain fresholds changes, so for me, my ba was no where near as painful as child birth.

I know it’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but just try and be patient girls. It’s still early day for all of us. Big hug if you’re feeling down today xx

Its so reassuring to hear someone’s story that is far more advanced than mine. Im almost 3 weeks post op now and I am really starting to get down about now being able to do everyday stuff. Its also but a bit of a strain on my relationship, dont get me wrong, my other half has been great but when you cant ‘do what you normally do’, it does start to put a strain on things that you cant be close and even have a proper cuddle. The thought of squeezing my boobs sends a shiver down my spine at the thought of all the pain!!!! LOL, I think thats a long way off yet.

    Thanks again,

    Kelly xxxxxx

Hi Tasha thats exactly wats happening to me…i had mine done on the 7th october, a day after you…and mines all on my left side, althoug i did have 2 different sizes and the left side was the heavier implant…

Kelly…i think ur right, i dont want to go back to work and risk anything, even tho it is an easy job, the thought of sittin there all day isnt nice, sometimes i feel i need to lay down as my ribs start to hurt…

Haooybunny, thanks for letting us know how you are after 3 months, i thought it would be just a waiting game, just think with something as importnant as what weve all been through we are bound to worry at the slightest thing…but i will look forward to the end result…xx

hia… im about 3months post op now… the numbness is soooo annoying but it will go! apparently its very normal to feel depressed after having the surgery. when the skin gets used to being stretched the pain and burning and numbness will go. My boobs feel completely like normal boobs now.. theyre soft and the numbness has gone..no pain whatsoever – you can squidge them hard and it doesnt hurt lol. it’s really just a waiting game, the time will go quickly, just keep lookin forward to the shopping afterwards.. its definitly worth the wait! x x x

:wink:Hi i’m Tasha firstly i’d like to say congrats to all us brave ladies who had a BA i no the pain mayb be hard now but it is worth it in the end…………………………….
I had my Ba done on the 6th of October i don’t regret having it done i feel it was best for me having totally breastfed my 3 boys till they were 18 months old.
I had 380 unders but wots with the pain my right breast i’m totally ok with the tightness of the and its slightly sensitive i can deal with that, but my left side it aches it feels so heavy considering their both the same size its so very sore even when i lift my up arm and it rest on it ever so slightly it hurts i’ve even got a crook in my neck now were i’ve been tensing up because of it, its not painful its just so sore, it feels as though i’ve been scalded or burnt,i’ve taken of my bra now cos anything touching it just feels so weird, the scars themselves are fine healing really nicely. i just wonder how come two sides can feel sensation wise so different.

I went back to work 1 wk after my op it was ok it just this wk when its starting to feel weird not sure what going on, started taking paracetamol even wondering if i shud statr taking their pain killers again but they made me feel so woozy, not actually sure whats best?

My cousin had hers done and she was perfectly fine it just goes to show that everyone is different and that healing times and the pain we have are different as well, the best i can say is take each day as it comes it will only get better. 😉

I had 1 week off work but i could have done with more time really. dont rush anything if you dont feel up to it. You dont want to jeopardise the end result.

I dont have much pains i even tried an underwired bra today but just for a minute to see how it looks. I’m just being optimistic thinking about how i will look in 5 weeks when all dressed up.

    Kelly x

well mr adamo told me yesterday that it could take up to 1 year yes 1 YEAR for the numbness to go. as my whole right breast is totaly numb. quiet scary but i was expecting this anyway.
dont worry girls u need to give it a while like kelly says it takes a while and is a long process.

    Pam,

I had my BA done almost three weeks ago and im also feeling a bit weird about it all. I have got most of the feeling back, apart from a small area under my right nipple, but the skin is still REALLY painful. It feels like it is sun burnt when you touch it and wearing bras and clothes is really painful at the end of the day and i can’t wait to take my top off!!!

I keep telling myself that the process for a full recovery is about three months so im trying to optimistic and think that im only a few weeks in to it so i still have a long way to go. What kind of things are you experiencing thats making you feel this way?

    Kelly.
