In one word, yes! Sorry, but it’s going to be very difficult. Are you having overs or unders? And do you have someone to look after your daughter? My partner took 10 days off to look after our very heavy, very active 1 year old!

My daughter was walking at 10 months, so she falls over less now she’s 1 so it’s less having to pick them up off the floor if they hurt themselves. Is yours? If so, then it’ll also be a lot easier and you can carry them less. My partner goes back to work tomorrow and I’m dreading it!! The first few days are the hardest because you can barely get out of bed or off the sofa without wincing! But then again you might recover a bit better, not won’t be such a wimp! lol xx

    Thanks Ladies.

I thought it would be hard!

No my daughter isn’t walking yet so it is a case of always having to carry her :-)

I’m hoping my husband will be able to get a week off of work to help out though x

I have no idea if i’ll be having overs or unders yet, I have my first appointment on Thursday, Do they decide if they’re overs or unders or is that up to me? I have no idea on any of it yet… It’s all new!!

Would u mind if I add you as friends so I can read all your comments and know what to expect as i have no idea xx

Depends whether you have overs or unders. With a small child i would definatly say you would need a week off for total rest!! the more you rest, the quicker you’re gonna heal. It’s only now (just over 2 weeks po) i would even consider picking a small child up. xx

Hello- I would say don’t underestimate the recovery time. I was quite shocked at all of the issues I faced coming round from anaesthetic I was throwing up. I had drains on (which I didn’t expect) and then I was folded on the bathroom floor three times on the hospital floor throwing up in the night – I had to be injected in the bum with anti sickness medicine. Facing nights sleeping upright was a shock to me too! Made my husband buy me a v pillow several days later cos I had not anticipated the sleeplessness. They put you on anti biotic and diclofenac which made me quite constipated. The anaesthesia make my body itch for days and I was very bloated. Pain was more in the mornings til my painkillers set in but the general discomfort lasted a few weeks. I have you g children but not a baby. I wd definitely enlist some reliable support for the first week to lift your baby and do the housework, driving, shopping etc be aware of everything you may face so you don’t get overwhelmed like I did. I was so tearful and my husband wasn’t as great as he promised to be. I was doing hoovering and lifting baskets of washing day two which is so stupid when your poor implants and stitches are all so fragile. I hope I have not scared you. I also had uplift so your experience might be totally easy just be aware of possibilities and prepared for every outcome xxxxxx

sarah… how do you measure pain? Theoretically, unders. As, the procedure is different and more has to be done. If you watch a BA being done, on youtube you can see for yourself ;)

we all measure pain in different ways. i personally have had very little pain. just mostly “discomfort” and stiffness. My feeling is coming back now and my babies are very sensitive to touch. Especially in the mornings.

don’t be put off by the “horror stories” and don’t be mislead by the “i sailed through it…piece of cake stories”. Going under an anestetic alone with all the medication afterwards will drain you… then allowing yourself time to heal… your muscle and scars. i do cringe when i read of people saying “i was fine wafting my arms about after a week…etc”. They’re your boobies, that you’ll pay alot of money for, so the better you follow your surgeons guidance, the better result you’re going to get without any complications. It’s hard to say how one person will be. Just listen to your body at the time.

I’m a very enegetic person. People always laugh that i never seem to “walk” anywhere… always bouncing about (lol) and generally just have a mass amount of energy… so, i have found it really hard to keep myself calm and slow down. also, the things you take for granted… like supermarket shopping! not being able to reach certain things or carry heavy things.

I was able to look after my 7 month old the day after my op on my own but we did spend the day on the floor in the playroom and just watched DVDs and hes safe in their so we were ok but I was tired by the time my partner got home! It is possible but I have been very lucky with how well I’ve recovered not all ladies are so lucky x

I think the moral of the story is better be safe than in loads of pain, damage yourself or.have complications! I think even if someone says they sailed through they still needed help at some point. But if you can definitely get someone to help!

As for the discussion of unders or overs and your choice, I think that is up to you and your surgeon. I didn’t have a choice because I had DDs to start with but you might be different. Definitely research and discuss before you meet your.surgeon. But don’t let the thought of a longer recovery with unders put you off, if that is the best option for you then go for it. In the long run and all that xx

Hi hun, I’m facing the same dilemma – everyone’s story is so different. My op is the 4th Jan, the day after my little boy turns 18 mths, however he is incredibly clingy and I’m really worried about all of this. I can’t offer advice yet but will be happy to share my experience from Jan onwards if you would like to add me xx

i was told the only things i should be doing in the first 48 hours is totally resting! certainly no heavy lifting or over straining. By day 4 i started to feel human like (lol) but no way i could of managed a dependent child on my own. i have a son with autism who often needs help with dressing and other day to day needs and for the 1st week i had my husband to do all the work ~ if you really cannot get any help at all i would certainly postpone until a later date for your own health and for your boobies. How devastated would you be if you distorted your 4k boobies?… goodluck girls. hope you get the help you need and please do speak with your nurse/surgeon about your concerns. xx
