Will i still be able to have surgery !? Started by: peachrobbins

    im worried that when i have my pre-op the nurse will say i cant have surgery as i have anaemia (low iron levels and red blood cells blah blah)

    Has anyone else had this problem ?

    it all depends on how low your iron is hun if its just 1 or 2 levels then yeah you can have it but if your like sa level 5+ i dont think you can have it xxx

    I had anaemia 18 months ago really bad, my iron count was 12 and the doctor said he was surprised i wasnt in hospital needing a blood transfusion :/ i only kept up taking my iron tablets for 3 months then got fed up.

    I have no idea what mr iron levels are like now, i dont feel like i did back then but im worried this will affect me too :/

    Keep taking iron tablets huni & eat lots of greens this will help.. Good luck xx

    Hey ladies i have suffered bad with this for a while when i was pregnant i had to have venofer which is iron through a drip. Just start taking iron tablets every day to increase yor levels i was so ill with this once my levels dropped to about 4 :-// I wasnt tested for this befor my op x x

    Thanks ladies, i went to my doctor and im having all sorts of tests done to make sure im ready for my op. feels like a pre op before my pre op if that makes sense? hoping i will be all ready soon :)
