Just wondering if someone could put my mind at rest.
I’m sure the nurse said I couldn’t drink within 2 weeks prior to my op but the booklet they gave me says 48 hours.. Yesterday I hade a few drinks too many and now worrying this is going to be a problem.. I have my op on Sunday so yesterday will have been a week before that Ive had alcohol..
A week with no alcohol should be fine for the body to recover, so don’t worry.
Good luck with it!
The reason they say no alcohol is because it thins your blood, just don’t drink alcohol between now and your op, the rule is there to minimize potential risk so you don’t really need to worry, just don’t drink again. Two weeks is the correct time, my nurse told me the same in regards to my reduction.
Thanks Yana! Gonna try and drink lots of water this week to make sure its flushed out..
Thanks Zoe, I did go a little crazy with the alcohol yesterday and said I was only having 2 :S Not gonna be drinking now til then so hopefully be ok xx
Just drink loads of water!! I had a few glasses last night my Ba Fri! xx How long to wait after is the next question!! xx
Two weeks after as well.
I’m going to a festival on Saturday so I’ll be drinking up to a week before my op too! Don’t think it’ll do any harm xx
I had a massive alcohol binge 6 days before my surgery I think it’s because I thought I wouldn’t get another drink for a wile lol I was fine through my surgery and healing process xx
Everybody’s different in healing and even alcohol tolerance but it’s up to you.. Just ask yourself “is it worth the risk?”. I had my own leaving party from work 3 days before the op, so I couldn’t drink..so I made sure I was driving, so no one would pester me to drink.
Just drive it say you’re taking antibiotics etc.. Unless you really want to drink..
