worried about admission time!

Have my BA booked for 12th march at Preston hospital with Mario Russo. I have been told that I will receive my admission time approx 3 days before my date. I live about a 3.5 hour drive away, and my boyfriend has taken the 12th and 13th off work to drive me there and stay overnight. I was worried that my admission time will be really early, which would mean having to leave home very early hours of the morning on the 12th (we cant travel up on the sunday and stay overnight because of work commitments) … does anyone know if you can request an admission time later on in the afternoon, or do you just have to take what you are given? Thanks xxx

You get what you are given due to the theatre lists i think, I had to be there for 7.30am and was picked up at 4.45am…..but you could try and ask them!! ask your PC to ring them before hand and ask before they make the theatre lists xx

Hi Zoe, I think normally you have to take what’s given to you. It’s worth ringing your pc though as they might be able to arrange something because of your circumstances. Are you an staying overnight at hospital or are you a daycase? My first op was overnight and my admission time was around lunchtime. X

I am staying over night! my boyfriend is coming with me and staying in a hotel for the night (bless him) … but yea i hope i can get one maybe in the afternoon so he doesnt have to drive through the night! xxx

You might be ok then. The nurse told me before I got my admission time that overnighters are usually admitted around 12. I think they like to do the day case people first so they can be monitored for a few hours before being discharged. Which clinic are you with? 3.5 hours is a long drive!! X

Yea that sounds about right. i am going to Preston and i live in Newcastle. i think its about 3 hours or so … according to Google maps! ha. Which one did you go to? xxx

I went to highfield in Rochdale. I’m booked in again for the 22nd feb, at preston this time though. I’ll be an early admission I think. I hate early mornings!! Lol. X

Just the one. Ones higher and a different shape so just getting it made the same as the ‘good’ one. Well hopefully anyway. X

I can’t decide between the 3 sizes I was offered but I think I’m gonna go for 410’s under. Going back in next week to have another look xxx
