Worst day ever…. Sorry to moan

Sorry it’s not even boob related ….. Nightmare day…. My bridesmaid dresses have been ruined by the shop…. Or should I say we might have saved them in time… they fitted them to the wrong bridesmaids arggh ….. Then I get a phone call to pick my baby up as the childminder has to go to hospital….. Work tell me I should use a nursery and just get myself in debt for the fees 45 quid a day I don’t think so …. They told me I was takin the Mick…. Can I say I’ve never been on the sick ive worked there 7 year but since I had IVF I’m not allowed to any medical appointments within work time…. Basically if I cough at the wrong time they moan…… I have found them a nightmare when I have asked for 2 weeks off for my op unpaid… They still haven’t come to a decision …. Well it’s in a week and a half and if they say no they will be getting a sick note…… I have just had a text message saying I need to make my time up tomorrow fuming isn’t half of it ….. Other people swan in and out as if it’s a holiday camp…. Sorry for the rant just had to let some steam off xx

Hun it sounds like you seriously need to speak to your HR Department as it sounds like you are being treated unfairly!

I work in HR and that just isn’t right…staff that have children should be allowed flexible working to care for them. My company understand completely if I need to have any time off because of my children. They do not have the right to tell you where to leave your children!! Grrrrr makes me so cross.

We don’t have a hr dept so wish we did xx I’ve been refused flexible working 3 times…. I asked for 3 days first time 4 day week second time and then 3rd time to have a Friday afternoon off and all been refused every time gutted…..my other half said I Only need to work till my boobs are paid off can’t wait to leave start my own business and then be a mummy xxx. It took me 3 years to have my baby girl and now I don’t get to spend time with her boo xxx

My boss can be a total dik with me, he asks that if were gunna go for appointments that we try to get them as early/late as poss to not interfere with work too much (fair enough).

Ther was an occasion i desperatly had to go to dentist and cause it was late morning i could tell he was in a huff about it so to save hassle i booked off a half day and came in the afternoon, the other week i ask to leave 30 mins early to go to the doctors i even offered to miss dinner or make up my time the next day, but i get some snotty email back saying oh now wer not gunna have a receptionist from 4.50pm onwards… he didnt know what was wrong could have been anything!the other receptionist asks and she got an email back saying yeah thats fine!

and others go wen ever at what ever time n say rite be back in and hour or what ever total double standards!!! x

Awww Laura sounds like my place it’s horrendous isn’t it ….. I work with lots of men and 2 women one of which is my boss and she hates kids, weddings, hairdressers etc so if I come in after having my hair done at the weekend she ll say who you trying to impress or if I say eee I’m tired the baby got up early she says well your the stupid one for having kids….. About as understanding as a brick….. I do have a busy job I’m an account manager but I can’t see how me leaving an hour early tonight is going to kill anyone…. Can’t wait till I can tell them to stick it up there ar#¥….. Just have to pray my business takes off hahaha xx

just get signed off they cant argue with a sick note! i got a 2 week one and handed it in at work they didnt say a thing because by law they cant do anything about it and im sure they know that! good luck! xx

Now interestingly enough…….if they get crappy about your boob job you can claim physcollogical trauma!! YES REALLY. the stress of them not giving you the time of is causing you distress, therfore you may not be able to have the op as you will not get paid and therfore they are making you ill ( I love my boss he is great at giving me advice and making sure i get paid for my sick time off for BA)

Knights – you are correct 100% – if you have a sicknote they can do sweet FA ABOUT IT!!

Unfortunately there is no right to flexible working only the right to apply, going purely on what you have sounds to me like your being victimised, if you are unhappy about the way they are treating you keep a log of it all. Then put in a written grievance. However they can’t deny you emergency time off for dependants, if u choose to use this then it will unpaid. Tell them it was an emergency and u want to take it as unpaid dependant leave. If I was your employer I’d tread very carefully in these situations particularly as you have 7 years service. Also keep a log of other people “swanning in m out” as well.

If the business can allow you the time off and you have sorted out cover for your work load then I think they are cutting off thier nose to spite their face to be honest as you will obviously go sick, which would mean SSP and poss company sick pay! Unless they have a descretion clause in their policy but then they would have to prove that they were not treating you less favourably. Sorry I could talk about HR stuff all day lol!! And I am typing using my phone so apologies for any typos and iPhone auto correct crap!!!

For an ET to take u seriously u have to exhust alll your companies internal processes first. Eg the dispute resolution procedure. Xxx

If you’ve applied for flex working and been rejected 3 times and there’s no hr dept for you to appeal 2 I don’t c why u can’t try Hun xx

Have they given you reasons for refusal, also how did they manage your workload when u were on mat leave? Is there nobody who might want a job share? Have they advertised internally for someone who might want to go part time n share your full time hours?

You don’t appeal to HR you appeal to the next manager up, HR are support and advisory we shouldn’t really be making those desisons as ultimately the manager is the one who has to “manage” the outcome of the decision.

If all else fails quit n claim constructive dismissal to n ET and hopefully you’ll get large payout even if they settle out of court. Good luck with them Hun they sound like arse holes. Xxx

Omg You are all legends… I went in all nice saying I appreciated my half an hour a week off when I had my I’VF and tht I have to go to hospital for a procedure… But I’m willing to take unpaid so not to take the Mick and they’ve just been a bunch of dicks…… If my hubby was home now he would of told me to march in and tell them to fook off …. I am counting the days till I can …. If your not offering “favours” to the bosses or don’t look like barbie your treat like crap!!!! ….. I think I’ll got to the docs and get a sick note and then they can do sweety FA xxxx. They said that I am detrimental to such a small company ( we are world wide bit small when it suit them) and that if I went part time we would loose a lot of big customers and a lot of money…. However when I was on maternity leave noone covered my roll ermmm go figure I was off for 10 months ……. Thy have just gave me a new big important account this morning but not the Payriae to go with it…. They need to have equal pay for men and women too…. Honest I could tell you allsorts but o would bore you hahahaha xxx

Omg just remembered my whinging boss left early about 2 weeks ago to take her daughter to the docs and her other half doesn’t even bloody work……. Fuming…. I’m so keeping a log xx. They also said last week as least your finally reliable we didnt know whether you were coming or going when you had IVF …. As if I had been told I will never have kids and they say something like that … Is it not traumatic enough …. I literally started half an hour late one morning a week so I could get bloods done and I had 2 weeks off after I had my IVF and no other time off during my pregnancy grrrr…..I finished work a week before my baby was born as she was born early due to stress grrrr xx
