In reply to: Cancellation, pills and pay

    Menu

I was told no medication for 2 weeks before surgery and no alcohol for 48hours (but big drinking sessions 2 weeks). I was cancelled 5 days before due to an error in my paperwork made by the clinic staff. They can cancel if the surgeon is sick, or theres a problem with equipment (last month there was a problem with the air con at Fitzroy). They will not operate if the conditions are not safe but it doesn’t seem to be a regular thing. I would worry about cancellation as long as you stick to their advice and don’t give them a reason to cancel you. Cant help with finance as I paid upfront.

    Hi Cheryl

The MYA clinic in Manchester is ok however they dont perform surgery there they do it in Preston.
I had Mr Traynor and saw him in both Manchester and Liverpool.

I got it within 24hours. I didn’t treat it immediately as pharmacist advised it would just keep coming back until antibiotics finished. I used the cream to relieve it and then took the fluconazole tablet on the last day of my antibiotics. It cleared up within 24 hours.
I ordered a fluconazole tablet from chemist direct for £2.50 vs £10 from chemist. I also used some of the feminine wash to sooth it while showering. It didn’t help only having shallow baths as a shower is better but I couldnt shower during that week.

Sorry should have said I am 3 weeks post op. I have done no exercise at all apart from some 3 mile walks when the weather has been dry.

In reply to: How long to crossfit?

    Menu

    Hi

I do crossfit. I was told no exercise at all for 6 weeks particularly as I am going under the muscle. My coach is really good and a few girls at the gym have had implants. She has reassured me that she will help me scale most exercises (upper body and bar work) she also suggested restarting my first week back with a pvc pipe rather than a barbell then progressing to an empty bar and so on. My surgeon seemed happy with this but suggested I only do lower body for first week and said I need to avoid running and impact like jumping for at least 12 weeks.

Hope this helps. I also have a puregym membership and I am going to consider going there at week 5 to just do some cycling on the bike and get my muscles warmed up with some lunges and squats.

    Hi Leah

I gained 6lb overnight having my op and was constipated and bloated for about 7 days. After 14 days I had lost what I gained plus an extra 1lb (not including my implant weight) and was back to normal toilet routine. Its usually down to all the meds they give you during the op and also the painkillers they send you home on. You will also retain water after not being so active. I walked a few miles a day from day 5 and I think that really helped.

I also have 1 breast which is still higher and harder. I had my dressings off yesterday and I can tell the incisions are in a different place. My left is the higher one and my right one doesn’t bother me at all and the incision is right in the crease already. The nurse reassured me yesterday and said this is normal and the other will drop eventually in the next few weeks.

I got it from argos and i dont think i could have coped without it. Its been alot better than the v pillow. I only used the v pillow for first few days.

My nurse said the same jess. Im still using the back rest too. She said its to prevent the implants moving under my arms. I tend to slide down and she said thats ok as long as my boobs are more upright than my abdomen.

I’m a nurse so seen plenty of wounds in my time and they look perfect. I would imagine they will start to get lighter. Some people do go a but purple and that’s fine it depends on your natural skin tone. Some will go brown etc before going paler I wouldn’t worry. They look lovely and neat and look like they are now right in the crease. I will be really pleased if mine look like that at 6 weeks.

Hi Lou I am 2 weeks post op and have the exact same thing. My left breast is higher and tighter and I feel more pressure in it. It sometimes feels like theres a massive big bubble in it. I hardly feel my right breast to the point it actually feels part of me. I saw my nurse today and she said its normal and it will drop, she reminded me they are 2 separate surgeries and said a lot of people have 1 really good boob and a stubborn one. She said by 6 weeks this has usually resolved.

    Hi Gabrielle

I had Mr Traynor based on my sisters experience with him. I had 2 consultations with him and yes he isn’t very talkative but I really liked him. I had my surgery on 14th Feb and so far so good. I have some pics on my profile. I had 350cc unders and the recovery has been really good.

It was my nurse who recommended the bras and she recommended the Macom – honestly this has been so comfy. I bought 2 so I could wash one and wear one.

The hospital at Preston is lovely. I arrived at 11am and was taken down for surgery at 12:30. I was discharged at 5.45pm. The staff were all lovely and I have a blood clotting issue and the doctors were really good making sure I had extra treatment to make sure I didn’t get DVT. The facilities were great, my partner stayed all day.

The service from my PC and the clinic hasn’t been amazing but they are really just sales I was more bothered about the Dr and Nurse and they have been fab. I saw Charlotte (nurse) at Manchester for Pre Op and Post Op appointment and she has been amazing.

In reply to: Please help! What do I need for surgery?

    Hi Vicky

Ive been told cant swim until 6 weeks so probably best to ask at pre op or ring the nurse about swim wear.

I just took zip hoody leggings and v pillow to hospital. They give you food and water / tea. I would take slippers to walk to theatre in or easy pull on shoes.

When did you have surgery? I sometimes feel like I can feel mine but I am only 9dpo and nurse said its really normal at this stage. If you need to speak to nurse in working hours just ring the normal clinic number and they will get her to ring back.

Mya only use Preston and London Fitzroy for surgery. Other clinics may have hospitals on Bristol.

I saw mine 1wpo yesterday and was told I had to wait until 2 weeks but I am a rebel and did it anyway. I rolled kitchen roll along my underboob and taped it with surgical tape. I then folded a plastic bag and taped from under my boobs to my nipples. I then just tried to keep my breasts out of the direct line of water. It wasn’t easy but my dressings stayed dry and I washed my hair well enough myself.

Yeh think so. They give you alot of fluids in surgery plus the anaesthetic immobilises your bowel then with painkillers on top and lack of mobility for a few days you get bloated and constipated. It shifts though. Today i weighed the same as my op fate even with 1.4lbs of implants in me

Hi x I don’t have kids so cant help with that. I am 7 DPO and have some photos on my profile if you want to add me as a friend. Whether you have strapping etc will depend on your surgeon. I had Mr Traynor and her doesn’t use drains, strapping or breast bands. I was woken up from surgery still groggy and the nurse let me have a peek before helping me to put my bra on. I didn’t feel confident to take the bra off until day 2 and then I needed to freshen up so changed it. As a lot of people have said on here they change a lot. I hated them when I first saw them on day 2 and I think is quite common. They pointed in different directions but now on day 7 they have changed and settled so much already.

I am a nurse and I have taken 2 weeks off. My surgeon told me not to drive for 2 weeks and most insurers don’t cover you for 2 weeks so can you get to work without driving? Also I think at day 7 I qould be able to do desk work but would struggle with turning patients or moving equipment. I had unders which takes a little more recovery. I believe overs can be a little easier what are you having?

I measured a B/C cup at M&S pre op but my surgeon told me I was an A cup. I had 350cc under and I expect to be a dd. This can depend on your height, weight, rib structure etc so not everyone gets the same result from the same implant.

Don’t worry x I am 7DPO today and going for my post op tonight. Each days gets better just don’t over do it. I started going for short walks on day 3 just round the block. Get everything at home prepped like your pillows and put everything within easy reach this made it easier. I had my BF at home but did all the simple things the night before like changing the bedding, having toiletries to hand like toner and face wash. I had a box by the bed for all my meds, dry shampoo, baby wipes, hair brush, mints, lip balm etc so they were easy to get out.

I took a v pillow with me for the drive home. I went in leggings and a zip up hoody and just came home in the same clothes – easy to pull up. I took slippers and clean underwear and my post op bra and that was all I needed and used.

The last few days I have walked at least 2.5 miles per day which helps a lot just to get fresh air. Today is day 1 with no paracetamol or ibuprofen and I stopped codeine on day 3.

    Good luck x
