Great story, couldn’t have put It better myself.

Really pleased for you, it is so amazing when the cast comes off, I kept staring at myself in shop windows!! X

Do you know I look at myself and think that my nostrils are still big, but it’s because its such a natural look. I would look really odd with a small button nose because my other features are quite big and it would be a mistake to go too small, mind you I’m just happy to have gotten rid of the big hooked nose that I had!!

P.s. 13 days is really early days, changes month to month! Xxx

    Hi Ed

Have to say still can’t stand having my photo taken, but found I’m not so self conscious if on the tube and forced to have my profile on display, and the fact you can see your profile in the glass which I hated!

Funny really, I’m sure it will get better but it’s a long time of conditioning to cure x

Thank heavens, I’m the same I tell people it’s hay fever but was sure it was more than that! X

I told everyone that would listen, I’d be so disappointed if after paying that kind of money no-one noticed!

And guess what, people can’t remember what the old nose looked like xxx

Tbh I was so happy when the cast came off I don’t really notice any further changes though I’m sure it is still changing. Took a while to breathe properly through it which was the most frustrating part! X

You look so pretty as a blonde, I’m well jel as I look totally washed out and have to stay brunette lol x

I think brown hair can look great when glossy and in great condition, my thing is changing the style, had a pixie cut last summer that was awesome, maybe next year…

    Have fun deciding x

Hi hon, I found using a gentle cream cleanser and carefully wiping with cotton wool did the trick for me, as I also doesn’t matter if some is left on with a gentle cream. It’s funny bit like being a teenager with hormones x

I was done 2nd Feb, so happy with the results feel so confident now xxx

Had a look at your pics and you look fab, so natural a result :P

    Hi girls

I think some of the stories are scary as it depends what people had done, and I think the person’s healing ability!

I had open rhino with cartridge graft, and it was during the really cold weather ( early feb ), and found the recovery hard, I’ve just turned 44 too!

It’s so worth having done though. I was back to work very quickly but luckily was able to work from home for a few days. I also flew to Scotland a couple of days before I was supposed to but had no ill affects.

Go for it you’ll love it x

I had one black eye for about 6 weeks, grrr! Soap & Glory’s trick or treat concealer was fantastic as it’s so creamy and easy to apply as you need to be gentle around the area.

Mind you I was the only person to notice the bruising!

First couple of weeks I was green and swollen so a dead-ringer for Princess Fiona!!!

In reply to: Rhinoplasty… Anyone know….?

Tried looking through the paperwork to see if I had the info, but no can’t find it.

It might be best to check as the paperwork said I could start wearing glasses after 6 weeks but when I checked with Mr G he said 12 weeks!

    Hi Lydia

I had the open surgery with the graft at the tip.

The only thing I can say is it feels weird, where the tip use to squish around it’s now quite solid (3 months post-op), it really tickles but does feel softer week by week.

Feel free to have a look at my pics, I do look grumpy in them but that’s me concentrating!!

It’s natural to feel scared but I can honestly say I’m really glad I did it xxx

In reply to: Open rhino 26th April…my story so far 🙂

    Menu

I’d completely forgotten about the top lip, it is so weird is’t it! It does take a little while to get the mobility back, and you smile very weirdly (I tried to be enigmatic but it didn’t work!!).

So glad that the op is all over for you, it’s so scary at the time!

I was so fed up with the grotty plaster on my face, have to admit that I trimmed the sides a couple of times as they were black and sticky, LOL

Happy healing – can’t wait to hear how the cast coming off feels for you, when the stitches are out you start feeling more like yourself xxx

Once that cast comes off you will be delighted, couldn’t stop grinning and kept looking at myself in shop windows like a right vain cow!

Laughing wont do you any harm, I remember my first sneeze, thought my nose would fall off!! I kept blowing my nose too, very gently but caught a cold, didn’t seem to do any harm!

I’m so excited for you getting your casts off in the next few weeks, let us know how you feel, I found even having the stitches out cheered me up! X

In reply to: How do I tell my dad!!! 🙁

    Menu

I think it’s hilarious that’ your dad hasn’t noticed Jhouli, just goes to show that they see passed these things.

My parents were pretty good, my mums had quite a lot of work done in the past so she was easy was a bit funny about telling me dad but he was fine, singing Jimmy Durante songs at me!

My mum keeps nagging me to put my up to date pictures on Facebook so other family members can see, but I figure if theyre so interested can see me in person ha ha!

Oh Hun, you are hitting the wall! It it really horrible around day 3 or 4. The combination of lack of real sleep and the after effects of the general anisthetic take their toll.

    Happy healing x :D

I’m so excited for you, just remember how I felt when the cast came off!

    Hi chick26

I’m assuming the stitches need to come out as soon as sensible as otherwise your skin might tighten around them as it heals and make it more painful (which it isn’t when they are done), best to check with your nurse though, or she may say you can see a local nurse if you have a long journey, can’t hurt to ask! X

    Hi Laura,

I had open rhino with a graft with Mr G nearly 3 months ago, if I can help or you want to see my pics, feel free.

The cost for open was £4800 with overnight in hospital, did it interest free with MYA finance.

p.s. asked for a straight nose so might look different after time, quite slopey at the moment! Mr G is very honest at what he can do and he’s very reassuring too!

    Hope that helps honey x

    Hi Harriet

I had open rhino with a graft with Mr G almost three months ago. I dont have any pre op, except my profile pic, but have put some post op ones up.

The op is really painless, in fact the worst part is the sore throat through not being able to breathe through your nose!

If you have any questions I’m happy to help if I can.

    How exciting, good for you!

Take throat sweets and lip balm as you are so dry from breathing through your mouth (worse part of the whole thing!)

Also, blow your nose before you go in as you won’t be able to after x

    Hi sweetie,

I know there was something wrong with my nose, I think people tend to see passed it so not dismissing you just they see you differently.

The most important thing is to do this for your self.

Happy to talk though the process, Dr G is very honest so will tell you what can or needs to be done x

    Good luck hon x

    Hi girls,

Yes it’s an attractive process to go through I was swollen for the first two weeks and your skin gets quite dry, a bit like being a teenager again lol x

With cleaning around the stitches I saturated a cotton wool ball with warm water and was just very gentle, the stitch removal was fairly painless too, only felt the first one then it was all over very quickly.

Enjoy your healing you will feel great when the cast comes off, just be very careful and take it nice and easy xxx

I think its human nature – I was sitting on the hospital bed ready to say “I don’t want it done”. But I can honestly say I wish I’d done it years ago. It is part of you but your new nose will be too, I know that I have so much more confidence not afraid to sit profile on to people with them thinking ‘God she has a huge nose’ – which apparently no-one does!!

    Hi Hun

They take some of the cartilage they remove from the top and graft it to the bottom of the nose, not quite sure why, I think it gives definition.

The procedure was completely painless, honestly, the only thing is the sore throat from the pack, but have plenty of fruit juice to hand. I will admit I found the recovery a bit horrible (I’m 43) but it was so worth it, wish I’d done it years ago! X

In reply to: arhh!! i've finally booked open rhino april

    Menu

    Hi Christa

The seven day appointment is to have the blue stitches out, it’s day 12-14 for the cast to come off.

You could always explain to the people interviewing you, but yes the cast will still be oin, and if you’re like me the plaster will be grotty!

    Good luck x

    P s I’m sure you’ll be delighted with the result :P
